DVD player-ND-861. Why has it started showing videos in black and white instead of color?

If you are using this with a cable that has just yellow for video, and red and white for audio, you may have inadvertently put the DVD player into the progressive scan mode. Some DVD have a button on the remote that actually says progressive scan. Find you instructions to change to composite mode versus component. If you use a five wire cable then place the DVD into the progressive scan mode.

Treatment of lyme disease

Treatments and drugs
By Mayo Clinic Staff

Antibiotics are used to treat Lyme disease. In general, recovery will be quicker and more complete the sooner treatment begins.

Antibiotics

  • Oral antibiotics. These are the standard treatment for early-stage Lyme disease. These usually include doxycycline for adults and children older than 8, or amoxicillin or cefuroxime for adults, younger children, and pregnant or breast-feeding women. A 14- to 21-day course of antibiotics is usually recommended, but some studies suggest that courses lasting 10 to 14 days are equally effective.

  • Intravenous antibiotics. If the disease involves the central nervous system, your doctor may recommend treatment with an intravenous antibiotic for 14 to 28 days. This is effective in eliminating infection, although it may take some time to recover from your symptoms. Intravenous antibiotics can cause various side effects, including a lower white blood cell count, mild to severe diarrhea, or colonization or infection with other antibiotic resistant organisms unrelated to Lyme.

After treatment, a small number of people still experience some symptoms, such as muscle aches and fatigue. The cause of these continuing symptoms is unknown, and treating with more antibiotics doesn\'t help. Some experts believe that certain people who get Lyme disease are predisposed to develop an autoimmune response that contributes to their symptoms. More research is needed.

Bismacine

The Food and Drug Administration warns against the use of bismacine, an injectable compound prescribed by some alternative medicine practitioners to treat Lyme disease. Bismacine, also known as chromacine, contains high levels of the metal bismuth. Although bismuth is safely used in some oral medications for stomach ulcers, it\'s not approved for use in injectable form or as a treatment for Lyme disease. Bismacine can cause bismuth poisoning, which may lead to heart and kidney failure.

Dvd, sound, no picture

If your DVD is external, I'd check TVs input settings: if your DVD on "progressive scan" mode, it delivers video signal via "component" connections: green, blue, red plus 2 separate red/white for the sound. If you trying to use 3 wires: yellow, red, white( composite), good chance, that the only sound is delivered. Try to switch DVD off 'progressive", if you only have 3 wires. It will deliver "picture". Or, verso-visa: using "component", 5 wires, but DVD set off "progressive scan". I've seen that confusion many times! Unless you have 'built in" DVD player. no matter what, it's must be broken! Use external DVD player, instead! $30 and trip to the store, will solve your problem. Don't want to fix TV, if everything else is alright. Myself, I never liked those "combo" units. You got stuck with mediocre TV and lousy DVD player. Better: separate them!
Good luck,
Alex.

Does the JVC xv s40 have progressive scan?

Sorry but this DVD does not have progressive scan. Before buying another DVD player with progressive scan ensure the tv you have can receive progressive scan signals. If not it doesn't matter if the dvd has progressive scan or not. Hope this helps.

Showing red image

Make sure red is matched up to red, green to green, and blue to blue first. Then, try a different set of YPbPr (component) cables if you have a set available. If it still shows up red, then read this:
If you are using a Progressive Scan TV
(TV must indicate Progressive Scan or
ProScan capability), to activate TV
Progressive Scan, please refer to your TV
user manual. For DVD system Progressive
Scan function, see page 28.
Helpful Hint:
– If your TV does not support Progressive
Scan, you will not be ab le to view the picture.
Press and hold OPEN/CLOSE button and
press ‘1’ to deactivate progressive scan.

Progressive Scan - turning on/off
To select this item, you must set “Video
Output” to Y PR PB and ensure that your
TV has progressive scan (See page 11.)
Follow the steps of “Using the Setup
Menu” and select :
> PROGRESSIVE
OFF
ON
PROGRESSIVE SCAN OFF
TV SHAPE
TV SYSTEM
VIDEO OUT
PROGRESSIVE
SCR SAVER
SMART POWER
OFF
Select this to disable Progressive scan
function.
ON

These are pp. 11 and 28 of your owner's manual for the HTS

If these methods still fail, try turning your TV's progressive scan off or on.

DVD/VCR stuck in Progressive scan mode

With NO DISK in the DVD player PRESS PLAY, (display will say "no disk" or something similar) then PRESS STOP AND HOLD FOR 5-10 SECS. Our DVD was stuck on Progressive Scan Mode for over 1 year, this fixed it. I had tried the press stop, press stop and hold while playing a movie, but not while there was no disk. Try it & Good Luck!!!!!!!!
