SOURCE: Black Streaks on Edges of Paper

This can be one of two

Print cartridge (you can do it, replace toner cartridge)

or Fuser (needs to go to doctors)

stop a print half way threw to confirm that it is print cartridge, good chance it is.

SOURCE: black smudge streaks on rightside of printed/copied material

Can only be two things the drum or the fuser. More than likely drum they last about 4 toners i think.

Learn the art of getting a page to stop halfway threw printing, you want to stop the page after the drum has put a image on the paper but before paper has gone threw the fuser (hotbit).

Once you have mastered the position correctly by stopping the printing by opening the door and removing drum/toner cartridge, to reveal the paper that is printed but can be rubbed off, we will know if marks are coming from the drum (you will see them) or from the fuser, if print is fine.

The above solution is 100% correct. If it doesn't resolve it, clean it some more. I'm sure even after one cleaning you'll notice a huge difference.

SOURCE: seems to print a red or yellow line down the edge

What ever color the line is you need to replace that photoconductor unit. They can be ordered from a Ricoh dealer and come with instructions for installing.

Alignment off

Try to re-seat the cartridges in the printer. Open the printer cover > remove the cartridges > close the printer cover > re-brick you printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in, and re-plug after 10 seconds. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and close the cover. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

If that doesn't help, please try this approach:

  1. On your computer, go to Start menu.
  2. Go to Programs.
  3. Go to Lexmark 2600 Series folder.
  4. Select Lexmark Solution Center.

From the Maintenance tab, select Align to fix blurry edges. Your printer will then print a page and aligning your print cartridges. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Ricoh aficio 1027 Printer leaves harsh black streaks on copy

There are three likely causes for your streaks:
1. If they only happen when you put originals in the document feeder to copy or scan, and if the lines stop about 1/8" from either edge of the page, the problem is dirt, correction fluid, or debris on the small glass just to the left of the large platen glass. Clean this strip of glass and your problem will go away. If you can see the Wite-Out or other dirt, just wipe it off with a dry rag... otherwise, clean the glass strip with alcohol.

2. If the marks are solid lines across the page, the problem is the photoconductor unit (PCU). This unit is a whole replaceable all-in-one unit -- replace the PCU and that will fix your problem.

3. If the marks are slightly uneven or if they feel raised, the problem is most likely a scratched or damaged hot roller, in the fusing unit. If this is the case, you'll need to have a service technician replace your hot roller to fix the problem.

Thanks for using FixYa!

Lines on paper through the ADF when making copies

there is a dirt on the ADF (CIS contact image sensor) that reads your document, identify where the lines came from either from top or bottom then open your adf and clean the affected area. this will solve the problem.

Line in copies that go thru feeder

Hi,

Over time the automatic document feeder (ADF) will get dirty, occasionally causing vertical black streaks or lines in scans and copies .

Manual cleaning of the ADF might be necessary. Follow the procedure below to manually clean the ADF .

You will need the following materials:
  • Soft lint-free cloths
  • Glass cleaner
if you look carefully on the left side of ADF ( top feeder ) there is an assembly which u can lift , there wud be a set of rollers if u lift that part there would be a glass strip . u are suppose to clean that strip .
While holding up the inside of the ADF, clean the glass in the location of the vertical streak with one of the cotton swabs. Try cleaning the glass first with a dry cotton swab. If that does not correct the problem, then moisten the swab with glass cleaner .
If the vertical lines or streaks still appear, go through the above cleaning process again, this time cleaning the entire surface of the ADF scanner glass.
and after this try the following steps as well .
CAUTION: Use only glass cleaner. Avoid abrasives, acetone, benzene, and carbon tetrachloride, all of which can damage the scanner glass.

Lines along edge of paper

1 of 3 things I can think of off top of my head.
Since they are straight, I would suspect the transfer unit.
If it were just one color it would be that imaging unit.
Unlikely the fuser.
It doesn't sound line an issue called bar coding ,where the machine prints random lines. That would be a software issue.
Take the transfer unit out and inspect it for the marks.
I am assuming the streaks are on all colors correct?
If it isn't on the transfer belt, and on all colors check the fuser and see if its latched.

Scanning document leaves streak down right hand side

Even a single grain of dust or a single strand of hair on the scanning glass will cause the scan head to perceive ink/image where there is none. Deffinetly try cleaning the glass using a good window cleaner, and a cloth that is completely clean, or even a peice of newspaper. If the black line remains, I would suggest taking it into a service center to have the scan head itself cleaned.

HP 7410 streaks on scanning and copying

First you need to determine if it's doing from both the  top and the glass.

1-assuming you are using the feeder to fax, copy or scan (the part that automatically picks up the paper) it comes out with a streak. Make a copy putting the paper on the glass and look at the copy. Does it have the streak?

2-lift the top and look to the left there should be a small 1inch glass, this is where it makes the copies from the feeder, is there a dot or white out or is the glass dirty? that's your streak, the paper is moving to make the copy,so the dot now looks like a line as opposed to making a copy on the glass it just sits there so a dot will stay a dot.

2- Clean with water or alcohol.
