No, a 30 Amp connection is required because of current load. a 13 amp could not carry the current load.

Wiring up

  • If it is a single oven attaching a 13amp plug and connecting it to a socket is fine. If it is a double oven it needs to be connected to a dedicated cooker circuit from your fuse board via a cooker control switch with 6mm twin and earth cable.

Can NEFF oven be connected using a three pin plug on an independent oven circuit

If is a bog standard single oven then yes, if it has a self clean function or a rapid heat up function then generally no as the current draw would be to high for a 13amp to cope with, if you need model specific verification ring number as per link

Have just purchased a hotpoint openspace pyrolytic oven. It has a standard 3 core cable on it stating it is fitted with a sealed unit plug. There is no plug and wires have been bared. Is this normal. Is it...

Is this unit new?? Are you in the EU (EU regulations say appliances MUST be fitted with a plug) If it IS new, I would be talking to the supplier!

However, to address your question If it has a standard 3 core cable fitted, then it almost certainly should have a plug on it!

To reassure yourself, just use the simple formula of Watts divided by volts = amps

I'm presuming that you are in the UK (240 volt supply) and the oven is under 3KW (3000 watts)

This being the case 3000 watts divided by 240 volts = 12.5 amps, so you are OK with a 13 amp plug. Anything above a 3KW oven in the UK should have something meatier than a 13amp plug on it.

Of course, there is nothing to STOP you wiring it to a 45 amp outlet, but the fuse rating for the appliance should be matched to its maximum consumption to protect from faults failing to blow a fuse in a timely manner.

Not to sure what wire to use and if I can use a plug

You can use it a 13amp plug if it is just a single built in oven and the total wattage does not exceed 3000 watts..
Anymore than 3000 watts, then it will have to be hard wired into a seperate control unit with 6mm twin and earth cable.

Diplomat integrated oven- 13amp?

You need to get an electrician to wire it in to a 30amp cooker outlet. It is 30amp rather than 13amp (like most sockets). It should go to its own fuse in the fuebox
