SOURCE: briggs and stratton lawnmower 4horse power engine needegap specs on coil and points

That's easy man! You will always hear, "You sir, need to gap this or that at EXACTLY .00071542 inches per square meter".

The actual "poor boy fix"-

Put your magneto back on there, and stick a business card from your wallet in between it and the rotor. Let the magneto pull itself to it, you center it, and give it just a hair of breathing room (to slide the card back out). Tighten 'er down, and you got it.

1.- If you can't pull the card out, it is too tight.

2.- If you pull the card out easily, too loose.

3.- JUST enough to pull it out, and have it drag just a bit on the way out is JUST ENOUGH!

Remember, on 4-strokes, they ARE forgiving, and can do miracles even if you try your best to destroy them.

Locate the tag with your model and serial number on the tractor. Be sure you get the number EXACT or it won't work.
Go to Murray's website and download it. They usually have parts listings at the back of the Owner's Manual

I have a senco coil roof nailer that all of a sudden is leaking air big time and will not coil and fire nails. What parts do I need to replace.

depends on where the air is leaking from. If you go to and type in your model number you can look at a breakdown and they will list the rebuild kits specific to the leakage, they make an upper o ring kit and a lower kit for this problem. Let me know if you need more assistance or where the air is leaking along with the model number and I will find a number for the rebuild kit. Also the senco kits have detailed instructions on how to install them.

The coil keeps burning up on the motor

If you are referring to the ignition coil, that is generally a sign that "voltage" is being applied "to it". Not sure if anyone has been messing with the wiring, changed an ignition switch, etc. There is a single "ground" wire that hooks to a spade terminal on the coil. This is for grounding only, if something gets crossed and battery voltage goes to this terminal it will blow the coil about as fast as you turn the key. Hope this helps.

I Have a Maytag MAH7500AWW one of the MOV component on the mother board burned and the machine does'nt work anymore. I'm looking for the replacement piece but nobody has it around here, they all told me...

An MOV is a "metal oxide varistor". This is a very common heart of a surge suppressor, which can be used "across the line wires" to prevent harmful voltage spikes from adversely affecting equipment. Most of the time however, an MOV will sit idle in a circuit for years, then one day, it gives its life blocking a voltage spike. You use the equipment the next day like nothing happened. Everything works fine - until the next voltage spike.

Your MOV has already activated, and is no longer able to provide the protection it once had. As a result, the next voltage spike passes unobstructed by the failed MOV into the circuit ruining the circuit.

The problem is that the MOV never told you it failed. Many times, a number of MOVs are installed all at once - each one fails at each subsequent voltage spike. It could take years, decades or more before the last MOV fails - likely long after the warranty is over.

You can probably see that the failed 50 cent MOV isn't the problem any more. It was *before* the circuit failed, but you never knew it had failed. Now, the latest voltage spike fried the circuit and it will require wholesale circuit board replacement or labor intensive troubleshooting to locate and replace all the failed parts on the circuit board.

You're better off buying a used board or an entire used machine until you can fix this one.

I hope this helped you understand about MOVs, and that replacing this part will not restore the machine to working order.

HP6150 - won't turn on after the last thunderstorm. It's not a circuit breaker or GFCI problem. Power cord has a green light, which is on.

Lightening does hit power lines, and cause voltage spikes; these voltage spikes do burn out electronic equipment. Surge protectors are used to prevent these voltage spikes from burning out electronics

Amplifier blowing

Looking up South African voltages, they vary from 220 - 250 volts at 50 cycles.
You probably also have voltage spikes from sudden load changes within the complex (air conditioners, washing machines, dryers, etc.

I suggest your complex invest in a good voltage regulator transformer. It should not need to be rated more than about 500 watts. I would guess the cost to be about $150-200 USD.

If this is more than you want to spend, try a spike suppressor, power strip first.
