There are cheaper ones but this one is convenient and has a decent size for doing a lot at once.

It is advisable to wash the bottle right after feeding so the milk does not dry inside the bottle. You should use fresh and warm soapy water for cleaning along with a bottle brush. Cleaning the ******* thoroughly is very important to ensure no milk curds remain because these cannot be removed as easily in the sterilization process. Turn the ******* inside out for thorough cleaning and once you have washed all the items, properly rinse out the cleaning agent you used.

SOURCE: I bought my avent sterilizer

Sounds like the unit operates at a high temp. The Avent bottles are a bit thicker and withstand the higher heat. Either switch to all Avent bottles or try other methods of sterilization for the thinner bottles.

How can I get a copy of the manual?

If your sterilizer is electric, it should have a label attached somewhere that lists the maker and the model.

Manuals are often available for download from the manufacturer.

Step 1: to find the brand and model of your sterilizer
Step 2: locate the website of that brand on the internet
Step 3: search their product and/or support pages using the model number of your sterilizer.

If your sterilizer doesn't have a power plug, it may be one that needs to be placed in a microwave. Go to http://youtube.com and search for "microwave sterilizer". There you can browse various videos until you find one for your type of sterilizer.

Is it possible to use Aveda or other brands' bottles in this sterilizer?

The instruction manual recommends not using any other bottles, other than the ones included in the kit, with this product. This is because they can't guarentee that they will be sterilized.

What's a good price for a bottle sterilizer in Germany?

Check on Amazon because a lot of the vendors ship to Germany for free. I would say between 15 and 30 euros for a new one. I got a great Advent sterilizer for 22 euros.

Avent Bottle Sterilizer Instructions

By Christine Lehman, eHow Contributor

jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Many parents like to sterilize their baby's bottles before use. Avent makes baby feeding equipment including bottles, nipples and breast pumps. They also make steam sterilizers that can be used to sterilize these items before use.

The Sterilizer

1. It is important to be familiar with the components of the Avent sterilizer before operating it. The base of the unit has a stem on which the racks holding the bottles (or other things to be sterilized) are placed. The bottom rack slides on the stem and lies near the bottom of the unit. It is made of mesh and will allow steam to rise through it while keeping the contents on the rack. Three other racks are available: two flat mesh racks (which look just like the bottom rack) and a rack with rings to hold bottles in place. Spacers are placed on the stem to separate the racks. If you wish to have more room between the racks, simply use more spacers. A lid fits over the entire unit.

Sterilizer Use

2. To use the sterilizer, the reservoir first needs to be filled with 90 milliliters of water. Using exactly this amount is important because if you use less your sterilizer may not work properly, and if you use more the cycle will take much longer than normal. There is a line in the reservoir marked "max" that should remain at or below the water line. You can use the milliliter marks on one of your Avent bottles to measure this volume exactly. Once the water is in the reservoir, assemble the baskets in whichever configuration suits your needs (for example, use only the mesh separators if you are sterilizing your breast pump and use the bottle rings to stand any bottles up that you are sterilizing) and load them into the unit. If you have small items to sterilize, also sterilize the pair of tongs that comes with the unit. Place the lid on the sterilizer. Plug the cord into the sterilizing unit, then into the wall. Turn the Avent sterilizer on and wait for it to cycle. Although the duration of the cycle will vary from load to load (small loads take longer to sterilize), this should take approximately 8 minutes.

After Sterilization

3. Wait 3 minutes once the cycle is over before opening the Avent sterilizer. Before then, the unit is extremely hot and the steam could burn your skin. In the meantime, unplug the unit and wash your hands. Remove the lid carefully and begin removing the items from the sterilizer, using the sterilized tongs if necessary. If you do not remove the lid immediately, the items in the sterilizer will remain sterile for up to 3 hours after the cycle is complete. Once the sterilizer is empty, pour the remaining water out of the reservoir.

Do you need to sterilize the evenflo glassbottles after every use or just before the first use. also are the bottles breakable if thrown

All glass bottles should be sterilized after every use. If you do not sterilize a bottle after you use it, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. Sterilizing bottles after each use can be a pain. I suggest investing in playtex plastic bottles with pre-sterilized drop-in liners. These lines are are cheap; approximately $10 for a 100 of them. You still have to sterilize the nipples after each use but it is a lot less work.

I am sure that if you throw any glass bottle hard enough it will break.
