I could have been more specific with a model number, but if this general answer doesn't do the trick, feel free to contact me with your full model and specific symptoms here.

It's usually a bad door switch or door switch mount. My helpful text file on door switches is here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If it's one of those overdesigned Whirlpools, it can be one of many components. See the example photo at the bottom of this reply.

SOURCE: Unworking microwave

Well this is not good, the magnetron has probably been damaged and the main fuse has blown in the microwave oven not to mention other parts that may have been compromised. If this is a older machine I would consider a new microwave oven.

How do i repair a broken glass door

Some doors can be disassembled for glass replacement. On others, you need to replace the entire door. Look for an exploded parts view for the oven to see if it shows a separate piece of glass.

In either case, you'd have to have a microwave leakage test done after the repair.

Spider in microwave oven door

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

You can find handy exploded views and order any needed parts by entering your full model number here.

I have a Maytag microwave MMV5207AAS that I need to change the door. What is the best way to remove old and replace with new one. I have the new door. Thanks, Charlie

Most microwave oven doors come off by simply opening the door all the way open and lifting straight up at the hinges. You may have to remove the upper grill cover on some models for better access. You can view an exploded view diagram of your oven at pcappliancerepair.com for reference. If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
