I have a whirlpool duet steam washer model number wfw9500c01 keep getting suds code on display. I clean washer every month with refresh tablets or as indicated. what do i need to do to resolve this?

the suds code is telling you that you're using to much detergent, you should be using H.E. detergent and like 1/4 cup full of it.if you use more than that it can oversuds and this is the number one cause of damaging the spider gear.if the spider gear goes you'll be in the market for a new washer, you'll know if it goes when in spin the machine will bang loudly, you can run the washer with just water, let it run for a bit and drain it to get the extra suds out, while it's agitating look in the machine most likely you'll see the detergent in the water.

I have a whirlpool duet washer (2008). The SUD light came on and i have never seen this before. what is wrong?

Are you using a good brand of HE detergent? Is the water draining. If draining. Start the washer. Empty and no detergent. After a few minutes, are suds in the washer? If so cancel and drain. Do again. If so cancel and drain. Add 1/4 cup of cooking oil. Start unit. Let oil rid unit of built up soap. Detergent (overuse) can build up in unit and on clothes. If this does not help you. Give more information,( noises, wet clothes) and I will try to solve your problem.

The dishes, glassware and sliverware do not look clean when they come out. The dishes are oven scummy with something stuck on, the glassware has an all over film or film and blotches, the silverware is...

There are 3 standard answers to solving the white-deposits-on -dishes problem: 1) Use a rinse aid; 2) use less detergent; 3) use vinegar in the washer. If you have hard water, none of these may work, especially if you've had the problem for a while. Because phosphates were ordered removed from dishwasher detergents, hard water minerals can now react with the soap to create a heavy greasy-feeling scum. That scum can build up in the water lines, arms, bottom reservoir, and filter, providing an endless supply of goo to spray on your dishes. This can be fixed. You need to remove and clean out the spray arms, the filters, and especially the array of parts at the bottom of the tub. I've seen up to 1 cup of coagulated/crystallized scum in the bottom of dishwasher tubs. Once you clean out the scum, then run the washer empty with a completely full detergent cup on the highest temperature setting, extra rinse. Before you start it add to the detergent cup 1 teaspoon of TSP(tri-sodium phosphate), a very powerful phosphate cleaner available at hardware stores. Your washer will now have all scum gone from the inner workings. From now on you must always fill both your detergent and pre-wash cups to the max and use a high temperature water setting, extra rinse. Chemically what you're trying to do is add so much detergent that the scum-forming reaction is overwhelmed by the dispersant action of the detergent, and the extra heat helps this to be more effective. I am not a fan of vinegar in the wash cycle. Why? In some washers the vinegar fumes can reach the exposed contacts of the printed circuit board or touch pad, corrode them, and then your washer won't work at all, along with being very expensive to fix.

Monthly Cleaning Protocol

  1. Hello. here it is: Use only the proper amount of HE (high-efficiency) detergent in your Duet. Whirlpool has stated that using too much detergent or fabric softener in the Duet can ruin a high-speed spin bearing responsible for spinning the basket. The replacement part is approximately $600. Whirlpool also claims that using too much detergent or softener can cause fungus growth.
  2. If you have mold and mildew problems with your Duet, check the filter trap. Unplug the washer and remove the three screws in the seam between the door and the bottom panel to remove the bottom panel. The Duet drain pump has a design flaw that leaves about a cup of water in the filter trap under the tub. Clean out that filter with bleach every month or two to eliminate mold problems.
  3. Put small items in a mesh bag before washing. There is a good chance they will get lodged in the Duet's filter trap, if you don't. Check the filter trap mentioned in Step 2 monthly to make sure there aren't any small items blocking the filter.
  4. Remove your detergent dispenser every month and wash with warm water and bleach to prevent mold buildup. Remove the fungus smell from your washer with Affresh washer cleaner. Always keep the washer door open when not in use.

Water remains in the liquid detergent cup

This is by design. Water flows in and forces the detergent out. There will almost always be a little water left in the cup after a wash routine.

Whirlpool duet washer

Increasing the water is not possible and would not help anyway. The odor is from bacteria. To kill the bacteria run a load without clothes on the HOT wash setting and add a cup of bleach to the soap dispenser. In the future to prevent it from returning use the hottest water allowed by the clothing care tag and use bleach whenever possible. If you don't like to use bleach or hot water you may need to repeat the cleaning once a month. Also make sure you are using a HE detergent. Non HE detergent can suds up and the suds may not rinse out with the water and can create an odor.
