No sound when using an external source ie DVD player through an hdmi cable but the sound is fine when just using the TV

May be its not the fault of the TV. Check the hdmi audio setting of the DVD player. Change the player audio output format setting from bitsream to PCM. hope you will get the audio.

My Pioneer XV-DV282AP home theatre has no Audio output. Every time I put the volume up/down, it keeps on saying HDMI/TV Audio. It only works with an HDMI cable using the speaker from the Television.

The system is set up to output sound through HDMI to the TV. You can change the setting so the sound is sent to the speakers. The process for changing the HDMI output setting is in page 41 of the manual. You want to choose the AMPsetting. I have included a link to the manual and copied the text below.

1. Press SHIFT+SETUP.

2. Use ?/? to select HDMI SET then press
ENTER.

3. Use ?/? to choose HDMI MODE then
press ENTER.

4. Use ?/? to choose the setting you want
then press ENTER.
• AMP - Output Audio sound of the DVD/CD
and USB function signal from this system
• TV - Output Audio sound of the DVD/CD
and USB function signal from a TV or flat
screen TV.

I have a th-42px500u tv i have no sound on tuner output on all channels just picture. I get sound on all other outputs except tuner. I have no dvd or game or cable box connected. Im just have a regular...

Could be tuner, could be settings on the audio menus like external audio or alternate audio. If you checked all these and If it is more than a year old, buy a $40 tuner converter and use external. Not worth fixing. Tuner problems are seldom simple.

Sound is not working

You are not real likely to find a service manual for this brand--

1. check to see if you have sound when using a DVD player connected to the rear inputs---this will rule some things out.

2. check to see if for whatever reason the speakers are switched to off= look in the main and audio menus.

3. Look to see if it has a hookup for external versus internal speakers it is not set to external.

4. If the set has a headphone jack on it---do you have sound there?

Failing, you likely have a audio output issue in the audio circuit of the set.

The unidentified DVD player's manual prescribes its audio connection. If it has a 2-channel analog audio output connect IT to Aux.

I can't get a sound from my yamaha rx-v367. my tv is lg le5310

Connect the audio outputs jacks from the TV to any available audio input terminals on the Yamaha receiver, other than the phono input. You can use any analog audio Left (White) and Right (Red) inputs on your receiver such as the DTV/CBL, SAT or VCR input. There are no special settings needed on the receiver, other than selecting the correct input. There may be some settings that will need to be changed on the TV. Consult the TV ownersEmanual for setting up the TV to output audio to an external source. If youre TV has a digital output (Optical or Coaxial) it can also be run to one of the digital inputs on the Yamaha receiver, such as DTV/CBL or DVD. There may be some settings that will need to be changed on your TV. As always, consult the TV ownersEmanual for setting up the TV to output digital audio to an external source.

NOTE: When the source of the audio signal is coming from an HDMI device connected to the TV, the TV may not output in 5.1 surround sound.

I'm trying to set up my Onkyo HT-r380 receiver (which came in the HT-S330 home theater system). I can get AM and FM radio to play on all the speakers. I can not get sound from my XBOX 360. The 360 is...

I looked at the manual and they provided the following settings.

To listen to audio received by the HDMI IN jacks through your TV's speakers:
  • Set the "TV Control" setting to "On" (? 37) for an p-compatible TV.
  • Set the "Audio TV OUT" setting to "On" (? 36) when the TV is not compatible with p or the "TV Control" setting to "Off".
  • Set your Blu-ray Disc/DVD player's HDMI audio output setting to PCM.
  • To listen to TV audio through the AV receiver, see "Connecting External Components" (? 17).

Cant hook dvd/vcr to my cable box the manual says I need a extern

The cable box IS an external tuner.  You should connect the video output (either S video, HDMI, or component video) of the cable box to the video input of the DVD.  Then connect the audio output of the cable box to the audio input of the DVD via stereo RCA cables.  If your tv monitor has multiple inputs (ie: video 1, 2, and 3...) connect the video and audio output of the DVD to your tv monitor using an alternate video input (if cable box goes into your tv thru video 1, connect the DVD to video 2).  If your cable box only has one output, or your tv has only one input, then just connect your cable box to the DVD as above, and connect the DVD to your tv.

External DVD won't play - no manual available anywhere

The tv has a set of imputs for audio and video ,there is a posibility your dvd is not working right, you can also try a vcr by using the rca audio and video outputs of the vcr to the rca audio and video imputs of the tv,that will tell you if the dvd is not working ,the tv should have a switch selector for video and antena or have a channel below 1 called aux.
