A "soft reset" can be accomplished by pressing and hold "Pages" key and press and hold "PWR" key till USA map comes on , then release both. A "hard reset" requires press and hold both "Z in" and "Z out" buttons and press and hold "PWR" button releasing all three when USA map appears.

Make sure that the 5200c is set to read the Navionic card. You can set that under Map Data.

The GPS component of my Lowrance Elite-5 Gold is malfunctioning about 50% of the time.

Hey Les, Since you have replace both the unit and transducer, you have eliminated/diagnosed most of your problem.. Its in the wiring... sometime when I am in full GPS mode I get erroneous depth readings..?? Have you tried a different GPS module (the "puck")?

Every time i turn on my lowrance 520c it says gps module not resp

I had the same problem. Sent my entire unit back to Lowrance, but they said it was fine. One year later, I find out that I did not receive or have the correct parts to hook up the GPS unit. I needed the NMEA 2000 T connector and terminator plugs. Look at your manual and hook it up the way the manual says. It will require a NMEA 2000 T and at least one 60 ohm terminator plug. Seems the GPS module sends back some kind of signal that if not absorbed by this thing will mess up your unit. Mine works since I got it hooked up correctly. HD

You do not need the data cable connected unles you are hooking it up to other electronics, ie computer, second GPS sounder ect. You only need to conect the red to the positive on the battery and the black to the negative.

Loosing position on GPS

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like your internal module is on the fritz. I am pretty sure you can buy a external puck and a harness and it will work perfect. I did that with my hummingbird 997.

Keeps blowing fuses

It has a short in the wiring which is "not user fixable". I think the wires are crossed. Take it back, they need to repair or replace it. I suggest you replace it. Take the GPS with you show you can show them the problem. If you bought this on line call Lowrance and find the nearest repair center. Repair it yourself and you loose the warentee.
