How to remove dryer cover?

    • Open the dryer door and locate the screws underneath the front lip of the dryer top. Unfasten the screws with a screwdriver and set them out of the way.

    • Flip the dryer top back so it is setting on the rear hinges. Locate the screws on the inside of the front panel near the top of the dryer.

    • Unfasten the screws on the inside of the front panel with a screwdriver and set them in a safe place. Lift the front panel up so it comes off the metal clips at the base of the dryer in the front.

    • Unplug the two-pronged electrical wiring connector from the back of the front panel by hand. Set the front panel of the Amana dryer cabinet out of the way.

The wires on the door switch of my Amana dryer disconnected when I was replacing the drum belt. There are three wires: red, gray, and black. I thought the order was red on top, gray in the middle, and...

There - you got the drum belt around the idler pulley, well done! That's tricky to master!
The switch serves 2 purposes - turn on the light or tell the dryer the door is closed. Either the switch got damaged or the wires are in the wrong place. Usually the length and the way they bend is a clue as to where they go, but colors change. I don't think Whirlpool makes Amana (as they do everyone else) or the wires would be gray, yellow and brown. Does the light work? That's a clue, but the web site I use for information is down for maintenance until morning. Can you read a schematic? If so, up inside the control panel should be the information you need, taped in a plastic bag I would hope. If so, please put it back when you're done - technicians expect it to be there! Just message back "no luck" if you were not successful.
PS - I just thought of a "duh" check - make sure the switch clicks as you press the lever.

Which wire is connected to which spot on the door switch? help =(

The white is the common and the gray is for the light the yellow allows machine to start and run when the door is closed.. Just hook them up if the light is on with the door open it should be good to go... If the light is not on then switch the yellow and gray.

Amana Gas CLothes Dryer Mod#NDG7800AWW dryer will heat and does dry some but when it moves to the less dry the dial does not move and the dryer does not heat

if your clothes are damp because you say it does dry some what then it sounds like it could be the gas coils, the coils will work for awhile but then they fail and the timer will not move if there is no heat on the more or less

I have an Amana model #ndg7800aww gas dryer thats not heating. the glow bar glows the gas comes on for a few minutes then the glow bar just keeps cycling.

The problem is with the 2 little gas coils.
I change about 3 of those per week.

Parts will run you around $20 and it's fairly easy to replace.

Please feel free to email me if you need help installing. Thank you :)
