Sony KV-40XBR800 Won't turn on. Standby light flashes 6 times

  • Anonymous Apr 13, 2008

I already tried disconnecting it all from the the wall, waiting and reconnecting and it's still blinking and won't turn on.

I have the same problem but it will eventually turn on by waiting and pressing the power button multiple times. Once on, it works properly.

What causes TV on powering up to go to standby and red standby light flashes 7 times every 2 seconds?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Kv40xbr800 2 flashes

Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.

Sony KV40XBR800 will not turn on. Standby light blinks 6 times.

  • Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.
  • This sounds like you do indeed need a professional to repair it. Most shops charge a check- out fee to investigate. Horizontal problems are usually some of the more difficult to diagnose
