SOURCE: Won't detect Sim Card
Calm down. Could be a number of things causing lost service. Restart the PC with iphone disconnected. Bring up itunes, plug in iphone and let the activation sit for a couple of minutes. If status does not change about sim card, eject the sim card using a paper clip, insert that paper clip into the tiny hole on the top of the phone. disconnect the phone, insert the card again, and reconnect. Hi I was using ziphone with 1.1.4 firmware and wanted to use Quickpwn 2.1. I restored my Iphone from I tunes by clicking and holding SHIFT then hitting restore in I tunes and after it rebooted it asked me to insert original sim-card. I inserted my pay as you go O2 sim-card, which it was happy with. I went to upgrade to 2.1.1 firmware but it asked me to upgrade to the latest I tunes. After updating I tunes I then uploaded the firmware 2.1.1 I then followed the procedures exactly as explained from QuickPwn, everything worked fine. It came to the end which also unlocked the phone but when putting in the unofficial sim-card, it said “Please insert original sim-card.

Remove the SIM card, turn phone on, allow phone to load entirely and say done when it says you dont have a SIM card in your phone. Then dial *2767*3855# and it will reformat your phone.
WARNING: This will lose everything currently saved on your phone but not your SIM because your SIM will not be in the phone. This code returns your phone to factory standard.

I also had purchased an Iphone clone not to long ago. My service provider was AT&T. 90% of the time when my SIM card was inserted the phone would read "emergency mode". I would have no service, I wouldn't be able to receive or send any calls or text messages. I talked to AT&T representatives who would solve the problem for short periods of time but never gave me a permanent fix. I immediately sent the phone back to the seller. I have been doing a lot of research on these Iphone clones and I have seen quite a few times that people have problems in this area, not being able to have service. Also, what you have purchased and think is a genuine Iphone very well may not be. Many models of these Iphone clones now have the Apple symbol on the back and even have the Apple logo displayed on the screen when they start up. This being the case, you may very well have purchased a fake Iphone which would lead to problems with your service provider. I'm not sure how to fix the problem, and for this I apologize because I know how frustrating it is not to have service. But, I can tell you that your best bet may be to return the phone and try something else. All I've heard is that the genuine Iphone is the best way to go. Because these clones are made by independent manufacturers and not sold through AT&T, even though they may seem nice, many people have constant problems with service. Well, your SIM card must be compatible to your iphone carrier. From what I understand, so far only AT&T is able to give out SIMs for iPhones; however, that may have changed to the addition of another carrier (perhaps Verizon, or so I hear) If you have the correct SIM card, then I would suggest that you go to your nearest wireless store and ask for one that may help your situation. Otherwise, if you don't want to do that then just unlock your phone :) There are videos on youtube that you can look at, programs that you have to download and what not, but it's doable.... or you can take it to a side stand wireless and have them unlock it for you :)
