SOURCE: where is the water reservoir for the icemaker

There is no reservoir, It fills the ice tray by a control valve hooked up to your home plumbing. No ice? Has it been connected to a water supply? Should chk. Good luck. There should be a water line on the back of the fridge.

SOURCE: easiest way to thaw out a possible frozen water

Hair dryer is the easiest way to thaw. To find cause: Remove lower grill and disconnect the water line going through the freezer2_bing.gif door hinge. Usually it is a push lock fitting, which requires you to push the ring2_bing.gif on the end of the fitting toward the center of the fitting while pulling (not hard) on the plastic tube. Now place a pan under the separated plastic hose and try the water dispenser. If water comes out, your problem is a frozen water line in the freezer door. A warmer freezer temp may help, or you can order and install a WR49X10173 water tube heater2_bing.gif. (the heater may take 24 hours to thaw the line, but I have used it successfully several times. Cost about $50) If no water comes out the separated tube when you try to dispense water, reconnect the tube at the hinge by pushing the plastic line back into the fitting. Now, at the back of the refrig., disconnect the water line going from the water valve to the fresh foods compartment. Try to dispense water. No water at valve outlet = bad valve. Water dispensed from valve now = frozen water filter2_bing.gif or water line at back bottom of fresh foods compartment. (make sure you disconnect the right tube. If in doubt, disconnect them both, just get them back correctly so your icemaker continues to work) Send me additional comments if needed. Don't rate before you try all the steps.

If water filter or water line/ reservoir is frozen, thaw with a hair dryer. If reservoir is frozen, check to make sure there is no frost on back wall of inside freezer, preventing normal air flow, allowing cold air to enter fresh foods compartment through return air vent at lower back of fresh foods compartment, resulting in freezing of water line / reservoir and possibly food in bottom bin.

Model #WSF26C2EXY02. Why is ice maker not making ice?

When the ice-tray is full it pushes 'UP' a lever that shuts the water supply off. When you move the lever down all goes back to normal.

Water,ice dispenser only dispenses ice

The switch in the door could be bad. the water side of the water valve could be bad. Sometimes especially in GE SXS refrigerators the water tube freezes in the door. You will have to see if you are getting water to the door by disconnecting the couple under the freezer side and tap the water dispenser if you get water there then the tube is frozen and you will have to thaw out the door for a couple hours. A slight possibility is the water reservoir in the fresh food section behind the crisper could be frozen. Again you will have to thaw it out.

No water flowing into the ice maker reservoir. I poured water into the reservoir, but no ice dropped after 10 hours. Next day I unplugged refrigerator opened freezer door and thawed it out for about two...

Well, if the ice maker were working properly, when you poured water, assuming you poured A, enough water, and B, not too much water, you should have seen some cubes drop into the bucket. But since you did not get any ice cubes, I would have to say the reason your ice maker is not making ice is because you have a bad ice maker. Its not receiving water because it is not cycling.

Water is not dispensed but icemaker is working

It's more common to be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws
If it doesn't come out then disconnect the line to the water dispenser at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is bad. If the water comes out then check the reservoir. It's behind the crispers in the fridge.

Where is the water reservoir for the icemaker located in a g.e. side by side refrigerator. i think mine is frozen and i would like to try and thaw it out

Hi, There is no reservoir for the ice maker. It is fed directly from the inlet valve through the rear wall of the freezer. If you are not getting water, then check to see if the inlt tube that goes through the rear wall is plugged with ice. This is a very common problem.
If the inlet tube is open, then you will need to checl the valve and see if water is getting through it. While the ice maker is cycleing, check the valve and see if you hear a humming noise. If the valve hums, remove the hose that goes to the inlet valve and see if water comes out.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can asist you further.

Frig not cooling properly, water reservoir freezes

Sounds like your evaporator coil fan (freezer fan) is broke or the thermostatic control valve located on the refridgerator side is broke.
Check the fan by opening the freezer door, and reach all the way to the back of the freezer, if you can feel cold air blowing on your hand and hear a fan blowing it's OK, (but if you can't replace the fan.) If the fan is good replace the thermosatic control valve.
