SOURCE: CD PLayer won't play CD's
Hi First of all, you must find all the screws for the top cover and remove it. Make sure the unit is not plugged in! Then, making sure that you are not touching anything inside the unit, plug it back in,put a Cd in the drawer, and watch what happens. If the drawer closes, but you can still hear a motor running, then it is a belt drive unit, and the belt is slipping, if that part is ok, listen carefully for a ticking noise, which is the laser lense going up and down trying to focus on the CD, if the disk starts to spin then the mech has closed properly, and the unit is trying to find the directory. If the unit then spins the disk for a while then ejects it, then the laser is dirty or faulty. I would suggest getting it cleaned at a shop if the lense appears dirty. ***Never look straight down at the laser lense if it is exposed on your model of CD player, it is a class 3 laser, and you will be doing some harmful home laser surgery to yourself!!!*** Hope this helps! Good Luck! P.S. When following the steps above, if you hear the ticking of the lense moving up and down, but the disk does not spin, gently spin it clockwise with your finger, if it starts to play, or finds the directory, then the spin motor is bad.

SOURCE: Not Recognising a CD
I got a second hand 541 a few weeks ago. After many hours of listening pleasure an no problems at all, the machine stopped spinning CD's, both copied ones and original ones.
The sollution for my problem was simple after some figuring out.
Open the CD tray.
Power off the unit with the tray open.
Open it up.
In the CD frame in the back there are 2 srews that hold the CD engine unit in place. I untidied these screws just a little bit.
I also untidied the screws that hold the cd clamp cover on the top a little.
After this it loads all my CD's fine again.

SOURCE: Sony CDP-CX300 CD won't play
The rubber drive belt for the c/d load mech is streched or broken,
replace the belts there is another that drives something else so change them both while you have it open

SOURCE: CD player Error 3
I have different experiance with the C.Dplayer ( error 3 ) , there is no need to remove it nor send it to the dealer ,all you have to do when you have `` Error 3 `` is to reset the C.D player , by recycling the power supply ,this can be done by disconnecting the main car battery power supply , you must also keep the battery disconnected for at least one hour . then connect the cables to the batteries ,when you start the C.D player you will hear some clicking sound ,and watch the numbers of the C.D`s in the display you will find all what is inside has been detected by the display .
and your C.D player is back to normal..
i discovered ths by chance , when I had this error in the past ,coincidently I had to replace the battery and after installing the new batteries ,i was suprised to see the player back to normal condition by its self.
