I agree with John, but, a switch is a simple "break" in power. When off the circuit is open, when on the circuit is closed, therefore completing the circuit. To bypass a switch bring the top and bottom together. Good Luck!!

Westpointe infrared heater shut off

The tilt switches normally go bad in these. It's a square black switch with a round bulb looking unit on top, wired near the power switch. The lower wiring pin will be drooped down as the case melts- test by temporarily jumpering between the two posts. If the heater works with a jumper, the switch is bad. A replacement switch is available for $13 at: (888) 775-1330 AZ patio heaters or part no. THP-ATM

Oh well basically the gae heater switches off the minute you stop pressing the ignition switch.

then the the pilot might be too small ie blocked needs cleaning or you need a new thermocouple

Came back from out west.parked up for 5mintes,just tried to start my car,it just makes a click sound and thats it.

If you didn't try jumping it....low battery.

If you did jump and were able to drive and then tried starting it and the lights dimmed...bad alternator.

If you tried jumping it and it still clicked only...bad starter solenoid (just change the whole starter assembly).

Pilot light is on but heater wont come on

Make sure that the knob on the gas valve is pointing to "ON". Take the two wires going to the thermostat and jump them together. If the unit starts you have a bad thermostat. If it does not, jump the terminals that the thermostat is connected to. If the unit starts you have a bad thermostat wire. If not, you either have a bad gas valve or a bad thermopile.
