Question about GE Spacemaker JVM1640SJ Microwave Oven
You probably have a bad magnatron tube. this is the heart of the system and works by exciting the molecules to heat. If you don't hear the tell tell buzzing noise then it is the mag tube. They can be costly to replace.

If the timer, lights, menu, etc, all work, but the tube does not turn on (the typical power noise), could it possibly be a problem with the interlock from the door/handle when it is closed?? (the safety switch that keeps the magnetron from exciting the water molecules in the skin on your face/hands and your eyes)?? Its in the housing where the door latch inserts. Just a thought as I have seen the same prob, but if the tube sounds like it goes on (usually the lights may slightly dim from a tube's power drain to help indicate that this is the case), then your tube may not be fully functional, if at all.
