Question about Winter Sports

1 Answer

I have a Nikon L840 and when I take pictures outside they are over exposed. I can take pictures inside and they are good. It is a little overcast today so it's not too sunny.

We thought it was on a beach or skiing setting but it isn't.

The ASA 'film' speed is set too high. Choose 200 ASA.

Best lens to add to d40 nikon to take baseball picture from dug out

So many people are browsing for the best D40 lens to take baseball picture i will give you some information about this topic i am not a professional photographer

if it's played on a full sized diamond you'll need 300mm if shooting from on the field/dugout. 200mm isn't long enough to shoot corner-to-corner. Realize though if it's not sunny at that time of day (i.e if it's overcast) you'll be shooting at 1600 to get needed shutter speeds at 5.6

IS is not necessary but USM is. THe 70-300 is the best choice for your needs as long as lighting is good.

hope this information will be help full for you

I have a Nikon N60. Can't take pictures outside

can you manually change your f-stop to faster shutting. When the shutter stays open longer, it will draw in to much light. If you have an option for only outside pics, then I would try that as well.

Dark photos

  • Be sure camera is set to the Green auto, not the A (A= aperture priority)
  • Be sure your white balance is on auto.
  • Be sure your EV is set to 0
  • Be sure your lens is on M/A, not M
  • Check the internal meter. See if it is showing a middle of the graph reading when the camera is on auto. If it is and you still get dark pix, might be time for Nikon repair.

I take pictures inside a car of people and sometimes the pic come in good and sometime not what is the best setting iso

Hi there, and thanks for coming to FixYa.

The ISO setting determines how sensitive your camera's image sensor is to light.
General rule of thumb...the lighter your surroundings are - the lower your ISO. So, depending on how bright the light is outside your car when you take the picture, use this:
If it's overcast 600 to 800 ISO.
If it's really sunny then us 200 to 400 ISO
If it's dark out then only use 1600 ISO

You should experiment with these ISO settings, you may have to notch it up or down depending on the light outside.

Nikon D40 - Flashing black on the light/white areas of inside & outside pics

It sounds as if you have changed the viewing setting so that the camera highlights over-exposed/highlight areas of the image.

While playing back images, press the multi-selector (4 way cursor) up or down to cycle through the various options.

This should be explained on page 51 of the cameras manual.

Hope this helps.

Matt.
