SOURCE: charger not charging

Just was on a website for Ryobi drills and it states that if the yellow and green light stay on for more than 15 minutes the battery is fried. Couldn't find the link but if you do a search for Ryobi Drill 18 volt you should find the same info. It was as product review from Australia I think.

I also have a problem with the charging of Ryobi batterys. They seem to charge AOK with the green light coming on but the charge does not last at all. Not sure if the problem is with the batteries on the charger.

SOURCE: Battery charge problems Ryobi 18v

Solution is two fold. Will try the freeze and re charge approach today and do this a few times. The long term soluiton is to purchase two Lithium batteries and a duel chemical charger. Expensive solution but seems it will work.

SOURCE: My battery will not charge. ( Ryobi 18.0v)

Bothights on indicates a problem with the battery. You cam try cleanibg the battery terminal with a Q-tip moistened with alcohol. Allow it to dry completly before tryin to recharge. If that doesn't work the battery may be defective or broken. If it was dropped that could cause the damage.

Ryobi 40v trimmer stops working with 1/2 charge left on battery

Battery is weak. Those lights are really useless...more a marketing gimmick. It almost sounds like it developed a memory...this happens when certain types of batteries are not fully discharged before being placed on the charger. Replace the battery and make sure to follow charging directions for that particular type of battery

If the battery charger light is red, does it mean it's not charging?

Red normally means it is not done charging yet. It will turn green or go out when it is completely charged.

Only had worx trimmer with lithium batter since june 20 2011 has not run more than 15 min takes over 1 hour to charge

The best thing to do is to run the battery all the way down and then recharge for two days.15 mins. is kinda short time for it but realistically, they wont run for more than 30mins at best.

18 volt trimmer is new, first time I charged battery over 10 hours it only ran for about 15 mins. charged again until green light, over 3hours used about 3 times , start with full charge, only lasts...

This could be the life of the battery as there is another question along much the same lines. I suggest that you take it back to the dealer and discuss it with him and take it from there. Take into account that any attempt to fix or adjust any part of the machine will void your warranty.
