If you changed out the power supply then the only other device that could be making that noise is your CPU cooling fan. To be sure, open the case and disconnect the CPU cooling fan plug from the motherbrd (MAKE SURE POWER IS OFF) and see if the noise stops. Don’t worry about the “Fan Failure Error” when you turn on the computer. Just hit F1 to continue. Don’t leave the computer running without the fan plugged in longer then necessary. After tying this procedure, please contact me for further diagnosis.

SOURCE: Loud whirring sound
You are correct only if (and I assume) it's making a heck of alot more noise than normal during spin. This definitely indicates a failed drive assembly. As you can see from the drawing below, it's a real bear of a job to repair this. Fortunately, if it's less than 5 years old it's a warranty repair! If it's less than 5, click this link for Frigidaire contact info.
If it's over 5? Well Arts? All I can say is that if you are very confident in yourself, good with tools and are very patient then you could do this repair. Otherwise, I'd call an appliance repair shop and ask for a quote/estimate to remove and replace the drive system (it'll be more than you want to spend, I promise you).
I know that this isn't what you wanted to hear, but it is what it is. I put this picture together for you so you could see what I mean...

SOURCE: making a loud jet engine sound
We had this problem also, the easy fix for us was taking out the soil container, then reach in and grab the gray cylinder and twist left to unlock it. pull it out, sometimes pet hair clogs the ports that make the cyclone action. Once you clean it out, put it back in and twist to lock position. There is a little lock/unlock indicator on that gray cylinder. Hope this helps, it fixed our "jet engine."
