also remove the remaing folders/files in that Norton antivirus 2009 folder because sometimes it happens that the software doesnt remove completly. u have to manually remove/delete the remaining files...

SOURCE: I need to load Mcafee onto a new computer

To avoid conflicts, you should uninstall any other security software you have now, either through its own uninstall or by going to the Control Panel "Add and Remove Programs".

Install the new software. Run its update program immediately if it didn't do it automatically during the install process.

Why won't McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011 install on my windows 7 laptop?

A possibility to consider, with a lot of "if's" involved. If your original product was pre-installed by the manufacturer of your computer, and if you didn't activate your new subscription before uninstalling the old one, see the "Important Note" in the document, which contains the download for the MCPR tool. I question whether the above, would manifest itself, with a "failed" error.

I TRIED LOADING THE MCAFEE VIRUS PRO SP ED AND

thi frgraunke, if I understood your problem correctly. Please try the System File Checker. Click on Start - Run and type "sfc /scannow" (with no quotes). - Please have the Windows CD inserted. This will check for system files and copy the bad ones from the CD. Then restart and remove ALL the antivirus. Restart again and download Avira Antivirus. @ www.free-av.com (it's awesome and free!) Then update and do a full system scan. Probably you have a virus. I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our fast-free response today. Thank you :D

I am trying to download McAfee Antivirus and keep getting error 76556 that does not permit installation I already removed all the other Antivirus/Firewall from the computer.... But still when i try to...

Was the other antivirus/firewall program you had installed on your PC McAfee or another brand? If there was another brand (example: Symantec) you will need to run a full uninstall utility (accessable from most software vendors websites). If the other antivirus/firewall was McAfee, run the full uninstall utility which is called the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool which you can obtain at the link I provided below; again this is for McAfee products only. If the last software you had on your PC was McAfee, then run this tool, this will do a complete job of removing old remnants that Add/Remove does not. It will then reboot your PC, and after which you should be able to reinstall your new McAfee software.

If it wasn't McAfee, you will have to check the company's site for a removal tool as Symantec (as an example) has one too.

Software trouble

Open the antivirus setting menu and disable the things that you dont need. IE crash is a common thing, mine also crashes. Firefox will be the best, install it.
or contact technical support.
