SOURCE: After cleaning coils and in back of fridge, it appears that the defrost keeps cycling every 5 minutes

hi
Step 1:
If the compressor runs all the time, turn the control knob to the OFF position. If the compressor still runs, unplug the unit, then pull off the control knob and remove the screws holding the thermostat in place. Pull out the thermostat and remove either the red or the blue wire from its terminal. Plug in the unit. If the compressor doesn't run, the thermostat is faulty. Replace it with a new thermostat.

Step 2:
If the compressor runs after the wire is removed from its terminal, there is probably a short circuit somewhere in the unit's wiring. In this case, don't try to fix the problem yourself; call a professional service person.

Step 3:
If the refrigerator or freezer runs but the box doesn't cool, unplug the unit and remove the thermostat with a screwdriver. Disconnect both wires from the thermostat. Tape the ends of the wires together with electrical tape, and plug in the appliance. If the refrigerator starts and runs normally, the thermostat is faulty. Replace it with a new one of the same type. Connect the new thermostat the same way the old one was connected.

Step 4:
If the freezer compartment is normal but the refrigerator box doesn't cool, set the dials that control both compartments to mid-range. Remove these knobs (they're usually friction-fit). Then unscrew the temperature control housing; you'll see an air duct near the control. Replace the knob on the freezer thermostat and turn the control to the OFF position. Open the refrigerator door and look closely at the air duct. If this duct doesn't open wider in about ten minutes, the control is faulty. Replace the control with a new one of the same type. Connect the new control the same way the old one was connected.

SOURCE: Ice maker wont shut off

So many different types. lots of info needed. In short, lg have DIPswitches on main board. By adjustment of these switches, the water in can be controlled.I dont think there is a water sensor on these makers per say.Does the water ever switch off at any time and if so, is the inflow time constant?. Assuming the solonoid valve is not defective.

SOURCE: Ice maker not working

If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order:

  • It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these:

    • If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire.

    • If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire.

In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

  • The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary.

  • The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

SOURCE: LG LRSC26925TT ice dispensing funnel broken

Yes. But LG came out with a new frame for the funnel. So you have to order the funnel and the frame which is installed through your front control panel. Good Luck I just did it.

We have an error code on the water dispenser screen - Er IF What is the fix for this problem? This is an LG French door model LFX25950SB.

You have a ice fan motor problem. This fan motor is what feeds cold air to the icemaker. Try unplugging the refrigerator for a few minutes to reset the computer. Plug it back in and see if the error code stays off. If it returns, you will need to remove the ice fan motor from the freezer and see if ice has built up and blocked the air flow. The ice fan motor is located behind the back wall inside the freezer. You will have to remove the drawers and slide supports to remove the back wall. There are 2 fans behind the wall. The one on the left is the ice fan motor. Good luck.

I have an lg lfd2286osb and the front panel says er ff. i hear the fan running for a short time and then it turns off. Is there something i can do to fix this.

Your fan is iced over needs to be cleaned out. Take everything out of the freezer including the drawers and remove the back panel. You will find the fan motor in the upper section full of ice. Melt all the ice out of it and replace everything back together. Pull the plug to reset the computer and everything will return to normal.
BE CARE NOT TO DAMAGE REFRIGERANT LINES.
Good luck

My LG ice maker fan is making a really loud noise right after the water stops going in

Hello, Self-defrosting refrigerators use a circulating fan to move air through the freezer and refrigerator compartment. This fan runs when ever the unit is cooling. The fan is located in the freezer, as follows:
  • If the freezer is on top, the fan is on the back wall, near the top or bottom, in the center of the freezer.
  • If the freezer is on the bottom, the fan is on the back wall, near the top of the freezer.
  • If the freezer is on the left, the fan is on the back wall, half way up or near the top.
Overtime the fan may become noisy, usually making a chirping or squealing sound, though it may make a loud groaning noise instead.
To find out if the fan is causing the noise, just open the freezer door and push in any fan/light switches, if the noise is louder when the door is open, the evaporator fan motor is the cause. You can lubricate or repair this motor. You must replace it.
There are three components on the outside back of the refrigerator that may become noisy: the compressor, the condenser fan motor(if self-defrosting), or the defrost timer (if self-defrosting).
Thanks

Ice cube maker not working. digital display not

The ice fan is frozen. It is located behind the rear panel inside the freezer2.gif drawer. I had the same problem with an LG refrigerator in November 2008 that was fixed under warranty. (There is a Kenmore model that is made by LG.) They replaced the fan and housing, and the panel duct assembly (both because a design revision provided a way to drain the water that was freezing the fan), and the main controller board (presumably because there was a new defrost program, but also because of the Energy Star settlement.) If your refrigerator is out of warranty, you can remove the freezer drawer to get at the panel behind it. Remove and defrost the fan housing. Drill some small holes in the bottom of the fan housing for drainage. Put it back together and see if that solves the problem.

Refrigerator LG LFC25760ST Serial # 701KRUC00022 PROBLEM ERROR CODE: ER FF What is this? How can I solve the problem?

Hi, The FF error code indicates that the freezer fan motor is defective. You could also get this code if ice is preventing the fan from turning. Please set up service for refrigerator before the fan motor gets worse !

It's written like this in the repair manual:
Which means what I just wrote above about the fan motor!!
Error detection category:
Abnormality of BLDC FAN Motor for Mechanic Room

Error Display: FF

Error generation factors:

It is caused when F/B signal isn’t over 115 seconds during BLDC FAN motor operating

Remarks:
Poor BLDC Motor connection, DRIVE IC, and TR.You can check the below trick, if that might work on your model :-

Pull the top and bottom baskets out, and take the back panel out from inside. There would be asolid block of ice built up around both fans and wires. Take a blow dryer and gradually melt the ice around the fans and wires. Then, pull the remaining ice chunks off of the wires. Then put the thing back together and it should clear the message.

Unless call a tech from LG.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
