Brand new and will not start,

Make sure the top of the shredder is sitting on the bottom part correctly. There is a safety switch underneath the top that needs to match up with the piece on the bottom bucket, otherwise it will not allow the machine to turn on.

Why is my ID Armor ID-XC200D making a horrible noise when I shred?

That "horrible noise" is probably caused by the shredder gears meshing improperly. If you disassemble it again and look carefully at the gears, you will most likely see that some are not mating properly... Usually the motor gear and the first idler gear that meshes with the motor gear. If those two gears seem to be separated a bit, or slightly mis-aligned look carefully at where the motor mounts, and you may see that the plastic "bed" where the motor is mounted has melted from heat from the motor. This is caused by using the shredder too long without letting the motor cool down. You may be able to shim the motor housing to realign the gears, if you have the patience!

Shredder OM02750 from Office Max..we have been using it a lot recently and it makes a loud screeching noise when shredding and after shredding that it did not make before. We have used the lubricant...

I had the same problem with a similar type shredder. Unfortunately, the only solution I could come up with after doing a lot of research and trying several diferent things was to buy a new one... good luck

I have an older version of JS55 strip shredder. I shredded some things that had glue on them. Now it jams a lot. Can I use olive oil on the shredder slots?

Remember that vegetable oils go rancid quickly; they're meant for eating and not industrial lubrication on a regular basis. The use vegetable oil trick is actually intended for people who use their shredders OFTEN, not OCCASIONALLY. I have a giant bottle of canola oil at the office for the big shredder, I use the branded oil at home. The amount of shredding most offices do is enough to warrant using vegetable oil since more than likely by the end of of a typical maintenance cycle, the oil is long gone from the blades and feeding mechanism.

Do not use olive oil, corn oil, cottonseed, peanut, palm, or ANY vegetable oil with an odor. Unless you want your shredder smelling like food, stay away from any vegetable oil with a distinct odor. Canola oil is the best substitute for branded oil. Also look for lower grade canola cooking oil, the ones you often find in thrift stores or 99 cent stores. It should look more "watery" than viscous.

Shredder is dead and brand new what should I do?

Hi there,

Well if your Shredder is completely dead then we suggest you to replace it, we hope that the Shredder is still under warranty as you says it is brand new......... It seems that the cutter motor is blown so first of all you can ask for warranty...... Please post comments for more help or information.......

Good Luck!!

I have the Royal SC120 model. The shredder does

1 or 2 gears are broken. royal doesn't make many replacement parts for their machines, might try calling royal at 1-800-222-2310. I would recommend replacing unit with a Fellows brand shredder. royal also makes Ativa brand- don't buy it either.

Noisey Shredder

Have you oiled the blades? When was the last time it was serviced? There is an awful lot of paper shredds inside the unit. Motor bearings need lubrication. Gears need grease, etc. Put about a dozen drops of light oil directly down into the cutter left to right every half inch. I have used vegetable oil in a pinch.
