1985 3.7LX 4cl. blue wire to the oil press, resiter wire, coil to carb heat, both heat up.ignition on

Not sure what the question is ?
The heater for the choke and the coil draw alot of amps.
If either component has an internal short to ground, the wire will be very hot rather than just warm.
You could disconnect either component and see if the wire is still hot.

I have an Oreck quartz heater that doesn't seem to cycle via the thermostat. I would like to find an owners manual to assure i'm setting it properly

If what you have is an Oreck, Heat Wise Infrared Heater, here's a link to the owners Manual that you can download and print.

No heat

Obviously everything does not work , otherwise you would have heat. You need to tell the story: is this a new installation? Is this the first time this happened and is it only one season old? Have you checked the gas valve to be open ? Is this unit have an electric connection or a pug-in transformer (like a charger unit ) or is there a battery in the ignition control? Or is it a spark starter like you see on barbaque grills and the spark is not ticking? Or does this unit have a pilot light that first must ignite from the contol unit?
Some pilots get clogged and won't light, therefore the sensor that feels the pilot flame will not tell the gas control valve to operate.Good Luck. Macgivor

Heater is off and code says FL 2

The FL2 code indicates that the heater has tried and failed to ignite three times. This is not uncommon after it has sat for a while unused. Check that the gas shut off valve is open and the valve inside the heater is in the on position. While it is trying to fire check to see if the hot surface igniter glows, then you should hear an audible "clunk" that is the pilot valve opening. If the pilot valve is opening but the HSI is not glowing then the HSI will need to be replaced. This is not uncommon.

To clear the FL2 service code, turn off the heater by using the SELECT key to turn the heater to the 'OFF' position and then turn it back to either 'POOL' or 'SPA'. The heater will now go back to the normal operating mode. If there is a call for heat the heater will attempt ignition again. If the ignition fails
again, contact a qualified technician to check the heater.
