SOURCE: smack my left ribcage on corner of nightstand 4 days ago. Pain like a bruise not subsiding. Infection?

go to a doctor for an x-ray
possible rib fracture If you take a deep breath and there is pain at the site the an x-ray is required
infection cannot be ruled out but it requires a source for the infection and unless the skin was broken I would leave that as a last choice

There are several possible causes for this. You have to ask the doctor who will take account of your age, recent activity, diet, etc. The doc may order tests.

It may be a simple muscle strain or gastritis, but for peace of mind ask the medico.

Go back and demand something else. You might need an appointment X-ray to check what causing you the shortness of breath.

I fell on a pipe with the right section of my ribcage from mybackside to the top What wil the symptoms be if the liver are injured , including severe pain in the shortrib area

if you have done serious injury to your kidneys, you will be passing blood in your passing water
best advice is to see a doctor immediately for a proper diagnosis and x-rays
a badly fractured rib can puncture a lung and liver damage is very serious as it can become infected
