SOURCE: how to check for proper chain tension husqvana

Hi,

You should be able to move the chain with your hands, but not too easily. Please wear gloves when doing this. Also, if you pull the chain away from the bar at the middle of the bar, there should be no more than 1/8" between the bar and chain.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

Handie Andie

Let my 450E husquarna run out of oil now the chain wont turn

Remove the bar with the chain and with gloves on see if you can pull the chain up out of the bar. If it comes out oil it up, put it back together, ad try running it.

I do not know how to replace the chain on a husquavarna 450e chain saw and no one is willing to tell me how to do it.

Before replacing a chain saw chain you must ensure that you disconnect the sparkplug lead. Remove the chain saw cover which is located at the motor end using the tool that came with it. A spanner socket remove the 2 nuts that are the same size and that will loosen the chain arm and chain itself. Note the direction of the chain teeth as the new chain must go back in the correct manner . Now reverse the installation the same way you remove it. After replacing the chain you need to tension the blade allow about a 5 mm slack and there is a tension screw located to the side of the cover you removed. Again it's best to refer to a authorized dealer if unsure.

I can't get a replacement chain back on the bar on

The 450E is a tooless system, make sure the brake is off by pulling the handgurd fully back to the top handle, flip up the lever on the big grey fixing nut, undo counter clockwise, wind the grey knurled adjuster wheel facing out of the cover fully back, remove the chainbrake side cover, push the guide bar fully back toward the sprocket, you now have enough rome to replace the chain onto the guide bar rails, now re fit the side cover, make sure the adjuster pawl in the cove aligns with the adjuster hole in the bar, re fit the big fixing nut finger tight, wind the adjuster wheel down to re tention the chain, when the chain is snug all the way around the bar tighten the nut fully.

Cannot move the chain by hand after the bar has been tightened.

First be sure the chain is on going in the right direction. When looking at the bottom of the bar the sharp tooth should be going towards the motor. When you put chain back on are the chain teeth properly engaged in the sprocket on the motor. Remove the cover again, check that teeth are in sprocket. Make sure pin from adjuster screw is engaged in the hole in the bar. Before you tighten the cover bolts, make sure chain will turn by hand. If not adjust the adjusting screw. Once adjusted, tighten cover bolts. Check again after tightening bar.
