A squeaky dryer means the casting wheels on the dryer are broken and need of replacement their kinda like skate wheels but more durable to stand up to heat however a simple hack such as using metal skate like rollers should help in a far long run

You either have a bad motor or start switch. You might also have a wiring problem.

Dryer is about 5 years old. Has begun to squeak loudly when clothes begin to spin

Are you comfortable taking the dyer apart? There are just a few simple screws to remove. It sounds like a bad blower wheel. If you follow the link you should be able to trouble shoot the issue.

Our whirlpool gas dyer is squeaking what could be the problem

Three things: the front and rear drum bearings and the drive belt+ it's idler pulley. The drum's front bearing (s) is/are the usual source of squeak. Some front bearings are just flat plastic surfaces mounted to the opening in the front panel, other types use a series of rollers that support the drum front. In the plastic strip types, if not worn through to metal, merely require cleaning of the plastic strips and the mating drum surface. The roller types usually have an internal bearing problem and should be replaced if light oiling doesn't help. In both cases, the top must be removed, then the front pulled back enough to service the bearing (s). Hope this helps!

Dryer

Your machine uses a belt tensioner of the type that the belt 'glides' on, creating a squeak noise that #1 will get worse and #2 is wearing out the belt. Replace the old tensioner with the one pictured here. The squeak will go away and the belt will last longer.
