Question about Denon AVR-2106 Receiver

Denon AVR2106 receiver lost center channel, third time

The center channel has failed again on my AVR2106, it has been repaired by Dennon twice before. Failed at 11mths, failed at 13 mths and failed at 36 mths. Each time I checked the speaker, a JBL unit and the wiring, no issues were found. Can anyone offer any solutions to the problem. I am in discussion with Denon at present to see if they will help me as I believe I have a "lemon". My components are in a ventilated component cabinet in an air conditioned room.

Its possible you center channel is fried and keeps burning up the channel output on the reciever. Next thought is that, yes it was a bad model. First make sure that the speaker is good by putting another speaker in its place, or by checking the speaker with another system for sound quality. If it sound high pitched and it takes alot of volume to hear, than its toast and get rid of it.

Check all the external wiring to the speakers, etc.
Look for loose connections or even completely broken ones - good luck.
If all else fails then you'll need to consult your nice friendly repair person down the road.

Denon AVR-682 center channel has no output

You may have had the receiver set to "Stereo" mode, or Analog instead of "Digital" or "Auto" (automatically switches to digital when it detects a signal) modes. Also, setting it to "Direct" (2-channel from an analog source) could result in loss of center channel. Or your Surround Parameter dial (on the higher-end Denons, at least) could be set to a 2-channel mode.
Finally, if your digital inputs are incorrectly assigned (e.g., COAX1 instead of OPT1, or OPT2 instead of OPT1) for that source, the receiver will use the Analog signal which is stereo-only. You could get a center channel via Dolby Pro Logic II but it would be a "matrixed" signal, not the "real" center channel you could get via digital input using Dolby Digital or DTS.
(If all else fails, re-check your center channel speaker wire connections. It's very unlikely, but also possible, that either the receiver center channel amp or the speaker has failed.)

You have a bad channel or power supply problem and need to send the unit for repair. You may send it to ebcelectronics here is a link.

Denon avr 2105 died (3 times) dead AVR2105 faulty avr-2105

If your amp looks like it's going to work as normal (ie the front display lights up as it should etc), but then the amp goes into protection mode when the anti-thud circuit times out, then I know what's likely to be wrong.

It's one of the power amplifier channels which has gone faulty.

I just found this out after having this problem with my AVR-1906.

I took the amp apart and de-soldered the suspected channel power transistors (centre channel in my case).....and hey-presto! it fired up as normal (obviously the centre channel would be out of service).

I have ordered the replacement transistors from Farnell (UK) at a miserly cost of around £2-£3 each.

Just waiting for them to arrive.

An alternative is, if you don't use all your channels, take the transistors from a known working but not needed channel and swap them over with the duff ones.

Hope thats of use!

For DENON DVD-3930: In "setup", HDMI sound settings have to be "2-channel". Then SACD 5-channel output is enabled.

Make sure your receiver is set to either "auto-select" or "digital" rather than "analog" (button on front display).

I took my Denon receiver to a local repair facility, because it wouldn't fully "boot", after shutting down, when I tried to run a computer rca plug (on both ends) from our computer to a in wall -...

Please post the exact symptoms. What do you mean by not "booting up"? Does it click on then click off? This would mean that the unit is in protect mode which is usually caused by a problem with the output amplifier section not the Micro. Do you have any experience with electronics repairs? If so, I can try to guide you through the repair.

Let me know.
