acer al1711 17" LCD monitor flashes primary colors when pc is turned off - off switch doesn't work either--- everything fine until recent when we had a powercut (pc turned off at the time)

however screen doesn't flash if screen turned off before tower
I have the same problem Post a new problem

My Benq monitor has started doing the same.

Ha ha, no it was something very simple. My technician rang the company as it was under warranty and they had never heard of it but worked it out and just pressed a few buttons on the monitor and it was gone!! Thanks, anyway for the laugh.

Your monitor has disco fever and will have to be shot in a midnight ritual in Palm Springs. Or, you will have to replace a diac circuit linking the display, power control, and power supply grounds (or possibly an overvolt protector of some sort in the power supply.) I don't know why for this kind of error the designer couldn't just put a message on the OSD in some random human language.
