Shower valve making banging noise pressure balanced even after changing cartrige

turn hose water off. open facet at lowest level to drain out lines. open a few faucets around the house to let air in. then close everything up. turn water back on. repressurize system by turning some faucets back on. see if it still happens. this is letting air back into any anti-water hammer devices that might be in system. sometimes they loose the air in them that makes them work. this should add air back in. good luck.

Turn off the water to the house undo the screws. Pull out the cartridge. Bring it to any plumbing place or builder supply. Hand it to them they may hand you a new one free without a word being said. This has been the way for decades now. Install the new cartridge.

My 10 year old shower faucet won't convert to shower from bath when you raise the knob.

Take it apart and clean the cartridge or as long as you have it apart replace the cartridge assy.

Pulsating water and poor hot water pressure

Based on your description it sounds like the pressure balancing valve could be gunked up with particulate from your well or just worn out. If your water is not filtered to that shower I would lean more towards particulate. Try to remove the cartridge and take it to a plumbing parts store for a match-up since Delta makes several cartridges and you want to get it right the first time.

My moen model 3175 is leaking. What is the likely cause and how do I repair?

The cartridge is absolutely the culprit. Very good shower valve, however the cartridges do go. Shut the water, take the handle off, disassemble the face plate, remove chrome collar from body, remove retention split spring, pull cartridge itself straight out. Replace new cartridge in reverse order of removal. Cartridge can be found at home depot, or any plumbing supply store. Good Luck,
Steven

Sterling One levr faucet

The problem is that the supply lines coming into that shower faucet have been installed wrong. In other words, the cold is on the left side and the hot on the right side, just the opposite of what it should be. This is an easy fix if you can get to the pipes feeding the shower.
