Envelopes won't print from bypass tray. Cause:
Extended tray is not set up properly for envelopes. Solution: Fixed! Did not fix. Enter tools "Login" 1,1,1,1,1 Touch buttons with the following names in that order: System Settings System Settings Common Settings Other Settings Scroll down to "Extended Tray" Next to "Extended Tray" it may say "Inverter" if it does go to change settings then change it to "Offset Stacking" Close out tools.

SOURCE: Setting Usier defined paper size
I had the same problem. I wanted to print something on a 8x6, but of course that's not a size option. So, I had to uninstall and reinstall my printer. Then, "magically" a custom button appeared under the size options in the printing preferences window and I was able to change the size for custom 1, custom 2, and custom 3. Gotta love all the headaches, huh? Good luck!

SOURCE: Stopping Auto Tray Selection
If you use different print materials of the same size in the trays, each tray with a different print material should have a unique paper type setting to prevent the printer from linking the trays together and mistakenly printing on the wrong paper.
From the printer's operator panel, choose the paper menu, then paper type, then select the source (ie, tray) that you want to change.
For example, if you have plain paper in tray 1 and preprinted paper in tray 2 and both are set up where size = A4 and type = Plain paper then when Tray 1 runs out it will automatically feed from Tray 2. To prevent this from happening you should change Tray 2 type = Letterhead. In this way, the printer knows that the two media types aren't identical and won't pull from that tray unless you specifically tell it to.

If you go to your printer properties, preferences or advanced, on the Main menu, is paper sizes,
click the little tab, look at the sizes list,
scroll to the bottom, and you will see.
Custom sizes by User, create your User Defined cusom size.
check your paper tray is setup correctly.
should be good now.
