Question about Wacom Bamboo Fun 8.5" x 5.3" USB Tablet with Cordless Pen and Mouse - Black

How do you put the pen in "Mouse mode" on a Genius?

Alright so I've got a Genius Mousepen 8x6. And since this is my first tablet I'm not sure what is normal and what isn't but the mouse works like a mouse should, however, my pen is jumpy.

For instance, if my cursor is in the middle of the screen, and I use the pen and touch the top right of the tablet, the cursor jumps to that location instead of considering it the new tracking location. This makes doing anything with pen hard for me because I have to figure out where my cursor is going to be every time I want to move my pen.

How and where can I make the pen act more like its in "mouse mode"?

Where is the options menu? all I have is a little icon in the bottom right tray that when I click it, it brings up a menu, that has nothing related to preferences or options.

  • monkman2121 Jul 25, 2009

Indeed it does open up a properties window, but my tabs are: Info, Button, Scope, Hot Cells and Pressure. There is no options or preferences on the tabs or within any of the pages attached to the tabs.

The user manual is two pages long, the first talking about how to install it, and the second talking about how you know its installed. It makes no reference to a "preferences" or "options" menu anywhere, I consulted that before coming here.

Go to the tablets properties and there is a screen that says PEN MODE with a dot you click next to it and under it there is a MOUSE MODE with the same selector you click, then you apply it and it will be back to either mouse or pen mode.

You invoke the Configuration function by tapping with Pen Tip on the Tablet Icon on the system Task Bar, usually located at the
lower right corner of the screen. You may also invoke it by first tapping on Start Button
at the lower left corner of the screen, and selecting Settings then Control Panel, and
finally double tapping on the Tablet Icon .

Note: For best results, when you double tap with
the Pen, try to keep Pen Tip close to the surface of Tablet Plate, that is, try to lift
Pen Tip as little as possible for the second tap. This helps you tap on the same spot.

When you invoke the Configuration function, you will be presented with a dialog with a
    number of configuration pages

Do you still have your user manual? If not you can download one here:

I don't know how to better explain it to you than for you to read it for yourself.

Try putting a new battery in it. Mine was having the same sort of problems, and they were pretty much entirely fixed by a new battery.

SOURCE: My Genius Mousepen 8x6 tablet isn't working with

My i608 pen stopped working today. I've had it for a month. The mouse was working fine, but the pen wouldn't work at all. Then I left the mouse on the pad and used the pen while the mouse was on the pad, and the pen started working again. Now it works even without the mouse on the pad. Did it re-establish the radio connection or something by doing that? Anyway, saved me the $25 replacement cost.

My Genius Mousepen 8x6 tablet isn't working with the pen. If the pen touches the tablet, the light lights up, but the cursor doesn't click and it won't move either. The mouse is working fine, though.

Pen does not work

There is two sections of the pen. *I have the same tablet from what you described.* Twist and pull gently apart the two sides of the pen. It will open, and the battery pops out.

Genius MousePen 6x8 pen drags as if I'm holding down mouse button

Listen up kiddos! I had this same problem and I was troubleshooting....apparently you have to make sure you uninstall the old drivers first and delete the directory entirely, before reinstalling the software.
So, UNPLUG THE TABLET! This is the part that screwed me up... then go to start > all programs > tablet > uninstall. Run the wizard, restart, go to my computer > local disk drive > program files and delete the Genius Tablet folder. Then, install the drivers again, reboot, THEN and ONLY THEN, should you plug your tablet back in.

My pen wont respond on the tablet

No software aside from drivers are necessary. The Genius Tablet comes a configuration menu you can test. If you don't have this, you can get it for free from Genius' website.

You need to hold the pen close to the tablet to allow it to detect movement. I hold my pen <1cm from the surface. You may want to check the batteries.
