ST300003U2 hard drive powers up ok, power light on, message on pc "usb device not recognised " .one of the usb devices has malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it.

Try to plug it in to another PC to see if you get the same message. See if you can run a scan disk on it from Windows to see if it's bad or going bad too.

To be honest, device not recognised is a bad sign. :(

Headphone symbol on normal mode

I have a similar problem on my phone, which is that when I insert my headset, it does not recognise it. And thus the music is played through the loudspeaker. And if it is recognised (luckily), then after I take it out, I see that the headset sign is still there. The only solution I have had is to turn the phone off and switch it on again. The sign should go away by then.
OR:this is the problem of jack where from you insert the headset pin,
change the jack your problem issolved.

Computer does not recognise, device making ticking sound

Hello,

the ticking sound is a sign that the hard disk has crashed.

I would advise that you get another hard disk. Your present hard disk is having a bad sector.

Even if you are able to fix the problem, sooner or later, it would still disturb again.

So why not just change it once and for all.

All the best.

Is your firewire controller turned on or enabled in the BIOS? Maybe its off. when your PC boots up, use the F2 key or del to get into th e BIOS, under peripherals, there may be a firewire controller that can be disabled/enabled. Check that and get back to us.
