CAN YOU REPLACE BRUSHES

Sure can! Chances are if you need brushes, you should do a clean up of the motor as well. If there has been no water intrusion then the job is fairly easy, if water has gotten into the motor you'll need to spend some time and elbow grease cleaning it out . Always replace the seals, they come in a kit and are inexpensive. At a repair shop average repair bill shouldn't be more than $70-90 for this including parts. How much and what type of lube do i put in the area where the piston and crankshaft are located?

Best practice is to purchase service kit part # 1617000050 . It is available from several outlets including link below. The kit includes items that need to be replaced at time of lubrication.
If you do not want to purchase the kit then use Bosch 1615430015 Hammer Grease 15oz

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. If you can provide me with a mmake and model number I can tell you exactly what parts to order and change including the source to correct the problem you describe.

These parts are in most cases are:
1. The drum bearing ring: (not always bad)
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/WHIRLPOOL-Bearing-ring-for-front-support-item-number-AP2996731.aspx

2. The front drum (Replace)seal: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3131525

3. The rear drum seal: (replace) http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/WHIRLPOOL-Rear-drum-felt-seal-with-adhesive--red-thread--item-number-AP3094149.aspx

4. Roller kit and belt: (replace) http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/WHIRLPOOL-Dryer-repair-kit--29-inch-large-capacity-models--item-number-AP3131942.aspx

These are the most common failures. I would recommend ordering and replacing all parts 2 - 4. Doing this will ensure your dryer will last for a long time trouble free. (tumbling)

How do I remove top loading whirlpool agitator to get at the ''centrifugal dogs'' that grab

If you need to replace the agitator dogs, the following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608577-replacing_agitator_dogs

The part number for the replacement kit is included. For a little more, you can purchase the entire cam replacement kit (which includes the dogs, the cam, the cam seal and thrust bearing).

Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites I've listed also include exploded view parts illustrations that can assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you need.

If you have any questions about this repair, please post back with you MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Top of aggitator does not turn.

This problem is commonly caused by worn agitator dogs on the agitator cam assembly. This is a very simple and inexpensive repair. The following link explains what the dogs are and how to replace them:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r823955-replacing_agitator_dogs

The part number is included in the link provided. You can purchase replacements at appliancepartspros.com for about $5. For a little more you can purchase the entire cam replacement kit, which includes the cam, the thrust bearing, and the dogs. If the model number you listed this under is correct, the part number for the kit is AP3138838 and sells for about $11.

NOTE: You can refer to the excellent exploded view parts diagrams the web site has to offer for assistance. The parts I have referenced are listed as items 9 and 10 under the Agitator Parts section. Whirlpool also recommends the application of a little grease on the thrust washer. The part number for their recommended grease is AP3098553.

If you have any questions about this repair, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Agitater dogs on la5558xt

The agitator on this model washer has a split design. The lower portion is the agitator, while the upper portion is called the auger. Under the auger is a cam drive. The cam acts as a clutching mechanism that drives the auger when the agitator moves. The cam has small plastic teeth called "dogs" that commonly wear out causing the auger to slip. The following link explains how to replace them:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r823955-replacing_agitator_dogs

The part number is included in the link and can be purchased at appliancepartspros.com for about $5. For a little more you purchase the entire cam replacement kit which includes the cam, bearing, any seals, and the dogs for about $11. You can view these items at the website as items 19 and 18, respectively, under the "Agitator, Basket and Tub" heading.

This is a very simple repair that should only take about 30 minutes. If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Bust alternator for a diesel Grand Vitara 2005 2.0 TD RHW Peugeot engine

The cost of many of these units is quite high, compared to what they used to be. Still, the choice of new, reman, or even one from a boneyard is your choice!
Consider that a new unit is just that.eEverything including the case is new. A remanufactured unit is "iffy" and depends upon the quality standards or the manufacturer... Some only replace failed items, clean it up and let it fly... Better shops, replace not only failed items but items which are slightly worn or prone to failure. (a good rebuild includes brushes, regulator, end bearings, diodes and anything else they deem necessary) When buying a "boneyard" part, try to get one with low miles, preferably one that looks as if it was recently replaced, or one that was in the latest year vehicle that fits your application. As I said the choice is yours!!!
Good luck!
