Your computer is set up as an American English keyboard. The number keys, when shifted are !@#$%^&*() . If you are showing these characters, it is correct EXCEPT if you are not in America. You need to change the language in control panel-Regional and Language Options.

Sounds like you have a US keyboard set. Go to regional options and change it to a UK one.

The SHIFT plus 2 button will create the ampersand @.

The Quotation mark is 2 buttons right of the L key.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My @ key isnt working. instead of that the other blue marked colan is coming. how to toggle back

Have you tried pressing the button "2" on your laptop? And have you tried pressing "Shift" and then "2"? If the number appears when pressing 2, but @ doesn't appear when pressing "Shift" and then "2", chances are your input language aren't correct. Go to Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages Tab. There you can set the proper input language for your keyboard.

Try using the on-screen keyboard as well. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Accessibility > On-Screen Keyboard. If @ works there, then its possible your keyboard might be faulty.

HOW DO YOU DO NEGATIVE 10 POWER NUMBERS LIKE 2.5 X10-2?

Hi ceanelson,

First, I would clear the memory. Press [SHIFT] [9] (CLR) [1](Setup) [=] (YES). Then press [SHIFT] [MODE] [2] to switch to the LineIO mode. Put the calculator in Norm2 mode. I just like the way it display these kind of numbers in Norm2 mode. Press [Shift][Mode] [8] [2] for Norm2. Next check make sure FIX mode is greater than at least 5. I usually select FIX 9 but, 5 seems to be good for must non-essential calculations. Next, press [2] [.] [5] [*10^] [(-)] [2] [=]. You can use the [SHIFT] [LOG] for the 10^ and, I usually do instead of [*10^] key.

Next, when dealing with numbers like these, I always use brackets. Such as press [ ( ] [2] [.] [5] [*10^] [(-)] [2] [ ) ] [=]. This is because, if you divide or do some other math operation you want to keep this number as a whole complete number. The calculator tends to break numbers like these up and, you do not want that to happen. It's a good habit to get into. Post a comment on any questions you may have and, I'll respond quickly.

How do i find square root of a number on casio FX-115ES?

Press the square-root key (third row from the top, second column from the left). Type in the number and press =. If you get a symbolic result, press S-D to convert or else press SHIFT ENTER instead of ENTER. If you don't want to see any symbolic results, press SHIFT MODE 2 to switch to the LineIO mode.

How do i get a decimal on division instead of a fraction? in example when divide 100 by 3 it gives 100/3 instead 33.3

  1. If a fraction (or a radical) is already displayed press the [S<=>D] key to convert it into a decimal number.
  2. If you are entering an expression and want its result displayed as a decimal number, press the [SHIFT][=] key sequence instead of just [=].
  3. More permanent solution: If you do not want fractions nor radicals, configure the Input/Output to be LineIO. To do that, press [SHIFT][MODE] to access the (SETUP) then select the option [2:LineIO]

I had the same problem. When I pressed shift and that comma key I got a " instead of a @.

I looked to see what on the leyboard you normally press to get a " and that's the number 2 key.

Tried pressing shift and the 2 key and hey presto, I got a @.

So it looks like @ and " have swapped places.

So shift and 2 for a @!

see on your keyboard's keys, the symbols which is above is to be pressed by holding down the shift. As ! is above 1 so for ! you have to press Shift + 1, same as @ is above 2 show for @ you have to press Shift + 2, simalarly # is above three so for # you have to press Shift + 3........... is it clear.....then... :)) ... otherwise Ask me again.
