How do I stop my ankles and feet to swelling after being sun burnt

Hello Anne.
Since this is a Q & A about cars and trucks,,, I will venture off topic..
This is serious and therefore should be evaluated by a physician. When you go to your doctor's appointment, be prepared to discuss the following possibilities. If the ankle swelling started just after the sunburn, it may be due to an inflammatory reaction as the skin tries to heal. A sunburn is a first degree burn but it still causes local inflammation and pain. As the body mounts an inflammatory response, the capillaries in the area dilate and become leaky. This process can cause localized edema and swelling, which usually resolves on its own over time. However, not every sunburn causes this reaction, so if yours is severe, you should see a physician. The reason you get extreme pain when you stand still is because the blood is pooling in your lower legs causing the swelling to increase. It is so painful cause the tissues are ripping apart to create room for the 'blood pooling' or tissue swelling. The most sensitive areas are the shins cause the tissue is tightly attached to the bone. That is why when you sit down or lay down it subsides or goes away. The body is not "upright" causing gravity to pool the blood in your lower legs ankles and feet can also be due to lymphedema. Lymph fluid travels up through vessel and is filtered through the lymph nodes of the body. Any issue with the lymph nodes or vessels in your leg can cause the fluid to pool in lower areas of the leg. If you have ever had lymph nodes in your abdomen, pelvis, or legs removed or irradiated, you should see a doctor very soon. Another possible cause of your problem, is your body retaining too much fluid overall, which can be manifested as swollen ankles and feet. This condition, called pitting edema, can affect people who have problems with their heart, liver, or other body systems. When fluid builds up in the legs, it can also build up in the lungs and other critical organs, so it is important to have this issue evaluated immediately. I strongly recommend that you make an appointment to see your primary care doctor ASAP!!, and he or she can refer you to a specialist if this becomes necessary.

Lumps on my lower front ribs that are tender when touched

Hi Susan.

Got Fibromyalgia?

Has anyone else ever thought so? Well if your answer is yes, do an internet search for FM Lumps.

If you have a history of cancer go back to your doctor.

Susan, these things really are not about first aid. You are looking for a medical diagnosis. See a doctor. If you don't have insurance get it.

Be well.

I had an epidural during labor and now have really bad back pain. What is causing it?

It's very common to get back pain after an epidural. It's caused by a local inflammation of the skin and tissue around the area that the needle was inserted. You may have a dull aching pain alongside a crampy pain. Speak to your doctor if it gets really bad.

What is a somnoplasty? My doctor said it might be an ideal solution to my snoring.

Somnoplasty is a radio frequency tissue ablation! Which is real terms means that doctors use low-intensity radio frequency to shrink the tissue in the soft palate that blocks the airways and causes snoring.

Somnoplasty can be done in the outpatient clinic and doesn't need an anesthetic .

It's quite a new procedure and is thought to be less painful and intrusive than some of the other snoring solutions, but it's effectiveness is still not fully known.

I have a scar on my wrist also nerve damage from it and ive developed a lump beside the scar wich is very tender also seems to be getting bigger, wot is this lump and is it normal?

Hi Elisha

There might be some infection under the scar tissue causing a cyst to develop which is preventing healing and impinging on nearby nerves. Such a cyst might have to be drained or incised and antibiotics administered by a qualified surgeon or doctor.

We do advise here on faults with certain types of medical equipment, but this is not the correct forum for medical diagnosis and remote medical diagnoses are generally not an advisable approach to the resolution of medical problems. I strongly suggest that you go and see a doctor.

I hope this helps.
