Question about The Watches

1 Answer

My band is like a woven wire band - no links.

On the ship where I bought it, she said they didn't have a cutter and would have to take it to a jewelry store, which I did and all it did was adjust the clip to fit leaving the 2 tail that I have to wrap around my wrist - awkward. Love the watch tho.

Your watch will have a maker & a model name or number. unless you state these in your question, no one, i repeat... no one will have any idea what you are talking about.

Where do I find a extra link to make my band bigger, and how much is it worth?

Most if not all watch repair stores and many jewelry repair stores will have extra links for your watch band. The price will range depending on the band you are trying to match.

Many times the best place to look for extra links is where you orginally purchased the watch, they might have links they are willing to provide for free or a very small nominal charge.

How do i remove a link from the watch band?

hi friend,
step 1
Measure the watch band's length. Every wrist size is different, and there's no need to remove all of the links when you may only need to remove one or two. Putting the watch around your wrist and pinching each link around it to see how much room you need gives the jewelry wearer a reasonable estimate.
  • Step 258782_65x95_aspect.jpg Open the watch near the link you want to remove. Link watches have several openings, so even if you open the wrong clasp, it can always be reattached.
  • Step 358783_65x95_aspect.jpg Flick the tip of your fingernail inside the clasp to open the extra links. Continue doing so until you have removed all of the links that are too big for your wrist. If you have short fingernails, try using tweezers or anything with a sharp edge that can easily unfasten a link. New watches tend to be very stiff, so it may take a little nudging, but the links come off. It will be obvious which ones come off and which ones don't by looking at the back of the watch band. The links that come off have a claw on the tip of each one and sometimes have the brand name on top of it.
  • Step 458784_65x95_aspect.jpg Put the extra links in a safe place. There may come a time that you either let someone else borrow the watch or your wrist swells and you need these links again.
  • jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); }); Tips & Warnings
    • If you can't get the links to open, visit a jewelry repair store. Workers there may be willing to help you adjust your watch for free. If you bought the watch from a retail store, the jewelry counter is usually required to adjust your watch for no additional cost.
    hope this helps u

Need to shorten the flex band on one button watch

If you have never done this you will likely break the first one you try; don't be discouraged.
Call some jewelry stores to see if there is anyone competent in sizing expansion bands (most likely an independant jeweler is your best bet as they only hire experienced jewelry professionals where as most chains they just hire whoever will work for the least money and no experience required).
If you are set on frustrating yourself here's how you size it.
    1. fold down top and bottom tabs on both sides of band with a flathead screwdriver or similar.
    2. move down the bracelet the number of links you wish to remove and fold down the top and bottom tabs there as well.
    3. remove links (they will slide out)
    4. reconnect the band with the small "U" shaped springs using a tweezers.
    5. Fold down the metal tabs to enclose the springs.
    6. lightly tap with hammer to make sure the tabs are flush and secure

I can not get the watch band to fit my wrist. How do i shorten the band

If it is a metal band there are links in the side of teh band that you can remove. If all teh removable links are gone you may need to change the band into a smaller one. And there are little pins by the watch you can do that as well. I recommend taking to a jewelry repair shop. Some jewelry store do repairs as well, and may have parts you need for this as well as the tools.
