INstalled new battery on Craftsman Riding mower. Now the motor wont start or even turn over.

You may have shorted out one of the wires going into the battery, blowing a fuse, or damaging the starter or the starter solenoid.

I have a allis chalmers lawn tractor wont start model 916H no voltage to starter?

Check the volatage at the battery, then check the voltage at both sides of the solinoid. You should have the same voltage at one side, and none at the other ( the one going to the starter/generator). The other problem could be that you have lost your ground. Try cleaning the battery terminals, and with the meter set to volts DC, touch the red to the positive terminal and the black to a known ground (engine block, tractor frame, exaust manifold) and your meter should read the same as it did across both terminals. If it is less, you need to clean the ground at both ends. If you hear a "Click" when you turn the key to the crank position, you know that the solinoid is good. Have you tried to jump the tractor with your truck or car?

There is a black smoke coming of the exaust? and it is shaking too much when it is on

a bad fuel pressure regulator causes this. black soot on plugs, black smoke from tailpipe, running rough, stalling. first check plugs and wires.

Craftsman LT1000 Wont crank over.

This is not always the case but on Briggs and Stratton it may be time to check the valves for adjusting. Take off the cover and check for a gap of .005 . If the exaust valve is loose it will not allow the engine to relieve combustion to start. In other words the engine stays under load of compression and can't turn. In my shop I see this all the time . If all electrical checks out try this next

I had the same problem with my YTH1848XPT . Believe it or not it is simply a dirty air must remove the filter and blow it out with an air compressor...or better yet replace it. you can not clean it well enough without the force of the air compressor. Mine works great now.

you probably need a new mass air flow sensor. disconnect and drive it. I had the same problem and when I disconnected the sensor it ran good.

Have you ever changed your Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS) ? This small (about the size of your little finger), if bad, will cause your engine to run very erratic. It is a sensor, screwed into the engine, and the other end connected to your car's computer and is not the sensor that shows your coolant temperature on the dashboard. If it is bad, it will keep "telling" the computer that your car is not warmed up, and it needs more fuel. Auto parts stores should have the sensor for less then $20. GET THE ONE WITH THE BRASS TIP. Google "saturn forums", pick "saturn fans" and all the saturn "stuff" is on that forum.
