Question about Car Audio & Video

Purchased Kenwood, KT 528 from Pawn shop. Lights up, have speakers connected and antenna. Nothing happens... If it works, shouldn't sound go to speakers? Confused by 'synthesizer'? Volume Control?

Are you certain that tuner has a built in amplifier?

Testimonial: "No I am not - long time since I purchased components.. may not have - but does have speaker plugs... "?"

I don't think those are speaker RCA connections. From what I can see it says "Output" which is for connecting the tuner to an amplifier. I can't find any specs of it but I think this unit is just an AM/FM tuner.

What you need is a receiver (amplifier) to be able to hear audio from the speakers.

I think you are correct. My last unit was a tuner/receiver!! Seeing the AM/FM etc, I thought I was buying a receiver!! Thanks much!!

I have a 820S kenwood I purchased it from a pawn shop in California, I could not get the S meter to sense the incoming signal / I played with the connectors and the S meter started working. Well it quit...

What is your ham radio call sign? I rarely look at the s-meter. If you can hear the other station, you probably can work them. The s-meter is valuable when turning your directional antenna to locate the transmitting station better. If your antenna won't turn, call him anyway.

SP OFF mode?

if you turned it on without speakers hooked to it you may have blown the speaker output amps or if the end of the amp remote wire touched a ground you may have burned a trace on the board did you here it play at the pawn shop? or did it just light up? sometimes the people at the pawn shop think if the unit lights up it is working and sometimes they check them is just hook power to them without speakers if so this can blow the speaker output I would take it back to the pawn shop

I have the same problem with my 3 year old Dell 32 inch Tv

Yesterday I went to the pawn shop and purchased a Sony receiver they just got it in a couple a days (pawn shop) ago. The receiver is in great shape still had the stickers on them for less than 100.00. We hooked the speaker and the cords black/yellow/red to the in/out in back of the TV and the receiver. Wow! Great surround sound and the TV works like new. Please do not go and buy a sound board you will be wasting your money and the same thing will happen again and again. Dell sucks!

Flat screen monitor

First, make sure that you have all the necessary cables connected, then make sure that they are all connected properly and tightly. Also, make sure that your computer is set to output to the correct output. If that doesn't work, then the speakers are probably broken. That's the exact reason why you don't buy stuff from pawn shops. Cheap, but crappy.

KENWOOD Power Amplifier

The power amp does need an imput signal ie. tuner, cd , and such to play. You can use the power amp with the other equipment.
