Question about Fahrenheat Built-In Baseboard Thermostat Heater

1 Answer

Broken control knob

The control knob broke on one of my baseboard heaters. I have been trying to find one by unable. The baseboard heater is tan in color. I only see white ones now and nobody seems to sell just the know. I don't want to buy a whole thermostat just for a knob that is the wrong color anyway. Do you know where I can find one?
Thanks

On/off swith knob broken

Is it the actual knob that is broken or the little tab the knob holds onto that is broken. You either need a replacement knob or a replacement switch assuming the know is also the thermostat for the unit. Does that same knob control the fan speed? Temprature or timer?

go to a radio shack to find replacement knobs. get something called a "bar knob." this has a set screw which holds the knob on the thermo shaft. use a marker and print lo med high and off on the unit or use a brother p touch label maker.

Honeywell HZ517 Baseboard Heater

You can try to disassemble the heater and look for something wrong like a loose wire: in order to do so: Unplug the heater and let it cool completely before disassembling it. Remove the rear grille and the control knobs. Remove the front grille by unscrewing the fasteners on the back of the housing. Remove the front grille by lifting the control housing and pulling the front grille toward you. The motor, fan, and heating element are now accessible for testing and repair. Remove the thermostat from the control housing and disconnect the wires. Remove the heat control's mounting screws and clips to access and disconnect wires. Good luck
