Broken clutch cable - unable to get at end of cable by clutch unit due to body of machine and clutch unit in the way. how do i get to it?

How do i change o ring on clutch cable 2007 dyna

Drain your transmission fluid, because when you remove the trans release mechanism cover, the fluid will pour out if you don't!

I usually leave the clutch cable hooked up until I remove the bolts holding the cover on.
The reason is sometimes the cover is tight to get off, due to the locating dowels.
Once the bolts are removed, a couple of pulls of the clutch lever will pop it off.
Then loosen the clutch cable adjuster to get maximum play in the cable, and remove it from the lever end.
The end that goes into the clutch release mechanism cover unscrews (that's why there's a hex on the end, to put a wrench to).
Unhook the cable from the clutch release mechanism, and remove.
Replace o-ring, and reverse to reassemble, correctly adjusting clutch cable when done.

2007-Nissan Murano-air blows to specified temperature on the driver side vents, but does not adjust on passenger side-blows only cold or ambient air

the flapper damper valves are stuck.
due to
1: cable broken or sheath loose.
2: cable not attached at either end.
3;bad flapper inside duct or lever to it snapped. or fell off.

its just a flapper , watch it and see if it works.
open or closed, using a flash light, under the dash.

This problem can be due defective (broken /twisted) RIBBON CABLE inside connecting LCD to its main body or probably due to bad CCD chip. Both Ribbon cable & CCD unit cannot be repaired, it can be replaced by an expert technician. Its better to contact Sony Service Center.

I need to adjust my clutch

Pre 1997/9 models of Fords were self-adjusting via the clutch-foot-pedal. The pedal engages a ratchet system called the QUADRANT & PAWL and is part of the pedal. The mechanism is very similar on older Ford models of: Escort, Fiesta, Sierra, Granada, Transit & others. Newer vehicles may have a Hydraulic Clutch from 1997/9 onwards, and these work differently from the cable & pully mechanism. Clutch-fluid can be bled to improve the ability to operate the clutch, however this is not necessarily a method of adjusting the clutch.

If your reading this article because you have a broken clutch-pedal then please read on.

If when pressing the foot-pedal it feels like cable is broken, or pedal is loose, ...This is symptomatic of failure of the QUADRANT & PAWL 'ratchet' mechanism due to wear of teeth on the ratchet.

In some cases the pedal fails to pull the clutch out far enough to change gear, and may make a 'springing noise'. This is due to slippage on some worn ratchet-teeth, but the mechanism has not reached full failure.
There are 2 ways to remedy the fault.

1. Change the Quadrant & Pawl, using only genuine Ford parts. #Beware of inferior mouldings that are not up to standard e.g. too soft, and do not trust 'pattern-parts' on ebay etc.

  • Disconnect the FOOT-PEDAL-SPRING to release the slack normally taken up by the 'Quadrant & Pawl' (ratchet) which is faulty.
  • Remove end of nipple from clutch-cable (engine-end).
  • Fill slack with bolts & washers or other filler.
  • Drill hole in LARGE nut & bolt (like split pin but inverted).

ONLY CUT VERY END OF CABLE-NIPPLE LEAVING AS MUCH CRIMP AS POSSIBLE, ...then clamp the nut & bolt over the crimp. This is less likely to slip or even cut cable.

Clutch-cable should be able to be re-fitted without tools or tensioning the clutch-arm. Final tension of cable should leave CLUTCH ARM & CABLE SLIGHTLY LOOSE.

NOTE : Overadjustment of clutch can cause damage. Therfore only remove a minimum of slack from the cable.

Broken manual clutch cable

You can go to and put you units model number in and order the cable yourself. They can ship it right to your house and you can swap the cable yourself with just simple hand tools.

You can see the details on the idler attachment in the parts schematic when you are ordering your new cable.

Riding yesterday and clutch cable went, felt like a rubber band breaking. Had a look today, not broken at either end. Can I fix this myself?

Sure you can fix it yourself. First lets make sure the cable is broke. When you pull in the clutch does the other end of the cable move?
If not then disconnect the cable from the lever and pull on the end by hand. Did you just pull a broken cable out of the sleeve?
If so then purchase a new cable and replce the broken one paying particular attention to the way it is routed. place the adjuster on the lever end a tad less than half way. Adjust the clutch end of the cable to take up the slack. Work the lever 3 times ( to seat everything) and use the adjuster at the lever for final adjustment. You want about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of play at the end of the lever befor the cable starts to actuate the clutch arm. Adjust and lock.

I have a 98 cbr 600. I was riding and all of the sudden the clutch no longer actuated. When I squeeze it doen't spring back. At first I thought the cable snapped off the grip. But, today I looked at it and...

Since it happened suddenly, the problem is probably in the cable. Look at the end of the cable where it connects to the clutch arm. Pull the lever. Does the arm move? If not, replace the cable. Check also that the spring is not broken. If the arm does move as it should then the shaft the arm connects to may be broken.

How do you fix clutch judder?

Clutch judder is mostly caused by broken springs in the friction plate, the springs usually snap due to too much enthusiasm at traffic light races.
Some cars with cable operated clutches suffer from a form of clutch judder if the cable is dry and not running freely in the sheathing.
A good cure for this is to release the cable at the gearbox end and holding the end of the cable in the air pour a few drops of oil down the inner cable.

lift top of machine as if changing ink, there is a black cover that needs to be removed to expose head cable, check it is pluged into board fully
remove A, check cables at B
