You are right, it'll not open up. The message indicates that your phone hasn't activated Gprs. Contact vodafone and get your phone's gprs activated and access the service. There's no other option to view the message except through gprs (only your mobile number's gprs).
If you know how to activate the gprs, you can do it but if you are not sure, it's best and easiest to call the vodafone customer care.

honestly, you should sue them. you canceled within 3days and since you canceled you didnt have to pay but they still did. sounds like you have a case.
