Question about Teac Televison & Video

1 Answer

I am trying to turn off the subtitles on a Teac DVP1013C and there is a setup menu where you can select the language but not a selection to turn on or off. The remote has no apparent options either?

You probably want to disable closed captioning (CC).

How can I turn on subtitle on my TV?

You probably want closed captioning (CC) in a language of your choice. This selection is made during initial set up and can be changed by returning to it. Subtitles are part of the material you are viewing and can't be changed.

I can't figure how to get the closed captions to work. I am nearly deaf.

Press SETUP
Get to LANGUAGE SETUP PAGE
You can select OSD language, and select audio/subtitle/menu
language of DVD discs if available. Also you can select font type for mpeg4 subtitle

Remember you get SUB-TITLE only if your DVD supports it meaning contains it at the first place.

How do i turn the commentary for the blind off my sony bravia tv

something like Menu - Setup - Disability settings.

I also found two items specific to Sony Bravia
Audio Description (AD) is not part of the subtitle set up. The current Manual includes it in Audio Set-up as a distinct sub-heading "Audio Description".
My Bravia is 3 years old and must have had an update recently which allowed it to make use of AD which is slowly becoming available to a lot of programmes. Unfortunately the update did not update the Tools function so I have the ability to take the AD facility but not the ability to switch it off.
Are you able to turn off Audio Description via..
Go to the Home menu..
Then browse to Settings..
Followed by Digital Set-up..
Then Subtitle Set-up..
Finally Subtitle Setting.?

and If you have Freesat:

Press the Menu button on your remote control.

Select Settings using the up/down arrow button and press OK.

Select Language using the up/down arrow button and press OK.

Select Audio Description and then Enable or Disable using the OK or left/right arrow button.

And specific t o

I want to buy DVD's with subtitles for my daughter who is deaf

Nearly all DVD's have subtitles on them. You can simply select them by accessing the menu screen on the DVD when it loads. Go for the audio/language option. Also you can use the menu of any DVD and Blue Ray player and set it to show subtitles. When buying a DVD look at the back and it will tell you what languages are available and the subtitles. Some DVD's also use the initials "CC" standing for closed captions or subtitles. For your information too digital TV broadcasts have subtitles too. They can be shown be selecting them again from the TV menu system.

Need to selct english on the ps2 box itself, its in asain can u help

Remove any disk and close the disk tray. Turn off your system and let it sit for a few seconds before turning it back on. Select the "Language" option from the main menu to open the language menu.
Move the cursor up using the directional pad on your controller until you get to "Language Select." Push the X button repeatedly until it lists "ENGLISH." This changes the audio settings from English to Spanish.
Scroll down to the "Subtitles" option in the language menu and change this setting to Spanish as well. The subtitles will appear in ENGLISH at the bottom of the screen every time a character in the game speaks. If you wish, you can skip this step and rely only on the audio settings.
Press the Circle button on your controller to move back to the main menu, which will save the settings. Select the correct time and date setting for your time zone, if the system asks you to do so. Push the Circle button again to access the main menu.
Place a PS2 game into your console and let the game load. You should now have ENGLISH, settings on your PS2, including subtitles.

I have the same problem with my Samsung, ιt is the DVD-HD870 and it doesn't recognize all of the greek characters (i get an ο instead of ν & θ)

However, check the file-encoding of the subtitles. If it is ANSI then select greek encoding from the setup menu of the DVD (if available).
