SOURCE: furuno gps wiring diagram for usb

Hello!
I have the connection diagram for the GPS unit below.  It should be simple to wire up.  You will need a USB to RS-232 converter, which is available in a number of computer shops/Radio Shack.
Hope this helps you out,

SOURCE: My new TomTom One XL will not pick up a GPS signal.

Well, it MAY help to download the tomtomhome program from the tomtom website, then connect your unit to your computer and update, including the gpsfix application (that's for all the other posters who didn't mention having updated). But for Drakeca05, updating MAY have been what messed you up in the first place. I updated two days ago with tomtomhome--my tomtom one was working fine, but was a little slow to initially acquire satellites. Now since the update it's even slower, sometimes won't acquire them at all, and randomly drops them. Tomtom tech assistance is useless--they just refer you to the standard "acquiring satellites" faq that you can easily find yourself on their site & nothing there is the least bit helpful for this.

Our fm radio reception sounds like it's being broadcast in an echo chamber. What could be causing that? We live in a rural part of Ohio. Might we need a strongervfm aerial?

You might be picking up a spurious signal (that is being bounced from something) as well as the main signal and your radio is processing both - one signal will be a small fraction of a second behind the other.

When this happens to a tv signal it manifests as on-screen ghosting. This used to be fairly common in the days when tv was transmitted in the vhf band, in spite of highly directional aerials being used.

Many FM aerials are omnidirectional and if that is the type of aerial you are currently using it could be a large part of your problem. I suggest you try a directional aerial with as many reflectors as your local aerial specialist suggests.

The aerial should be mounted at a suitable height to clear nearby buildings and aimed exactly at the transmitter you want to receive. The aerial should also be "polarised" correctly - if the transmitter antenna is horizontal then so should the receiving aerial. If the transmitter uses a vertical polarisation then the receiving aerial should be fitted with the reflectors vertical.

Coaxial cable isn't hugely expensive and so buying good cable won't break the bank. 75 ohm air-spaced double-wrapped might seem overkill for a radio but it is worth the extra as it will lose less signal and more importantly it will collect less noise and interference.

Toyota corolla professional aerial problem, reception on radio

Some tints have metal in them so it might cause you grief but how is the radio when you wind down the windows ?
A power aerial might fix the problem put in the front fender and then run to the radio via a coaxial cable.
However in my car it was the radio that was the cause of the same bad reception and it worked on one channel only.
I have since replaced the radio but this may not be the cause of your problem and you would want to really know if the radio was the cause before incurring an expense of a new car radio.

I get poor reception and wonder if there's a way to boost TV reception.

There are aerial boosters but they not only boost the aerial signal but the noise as well. Some work, some don't. The best option is a new aerial and cable.

Kenwood RV7030 audio-video stereo has static without antenna

OK I am going to suggest two aerials for you. I would also NOT use the old cable as it will cause a lot of problems. It is best to replace it with the stuff they use for satellite dishes (see image).
The FM aerial will pick up signals from all sides. The TV aerial should give high quality signals and output for at least 5 sets.

I have just moved house to Reading and previously was able to view freeview tv using my old indoor aerial in my 2nd floor flat in london. This indoor aerial didn't pick up any signals, not even analogue,...

You will need to have an outdoor aerial installed, the signal area you're now living in will not be a strong enough reception for an indoor aerial no matter how good or expensive. You could try the indoor aerial in different positions around the room especially by a window to try & pick up some other channels but the long term this will cause some of the programmes to break up or freeze. An aerial on the roof or in the attic will be your best solution to pick up all the digital channels on freeview.

I have recently moved areas. my toshiba regza 37'' does not tune into the free view chaneels everytime. even when it does the quality is awful. sometimes it does not tune into the bbc related channels....

The most likely problem is the aerial system you are using in your new location. It could be either the position of the aerial needs to be adjusted or the cable coming from the aerial has a problem, check the end connector that goes into the Tv to make sure it is wired correctly. Also check with your new neighbours to find out what quality of reception they have, it's possible you may in a "weak" zone for picking up a freeview signal.

Unable to get satellite reception

Make sure you are not moving and that you are on an open field with minimal aerial hindrances. It takes time for the GPS unit to acquire satellite signal and makes it difficult to acquire when you are moving so make sure you stop at an open are till it syncs with at least 3 satellites.

hope this helps!

I actually moved my tele to the other side of the room to see if it would work in a different spot and it took me ages to get some signal by moving my aerial around. The signal still wasn`t strong and i didn`t have alot of the channels and then i turned it on a few weeks after and it was working perfectly. Don`t ask me why! :s

New aerial wont pick up digital reception and fuzzy picture on terrestrial channels

Hi.

If you put aerial up your self was it wide band aerial ?
Is it in the atic or on the roof ?
Have you used decent quality cable (not the cheap stuff)
How long is cable run from aerial ?
Have you checked that when you fitted rf plugs that none of the braid strands are touching solid copper inner core ?
Ask an earial installer or Tv shop what the signal strength is like in your area.
