Question about Olympus Photography
I have a olympus om-4 that every time I advance a frame and take a shot the shutter will stay up and I can't advance the frame. The shutter will only go back down if I push the B lock button and set the shutter speed to 60 or B.
This is very common on many OM SLRs and is caused by dirty shutter magnets. If you look on the web you can find details on how to do this yourself, but as the OM-4 is top of the line I'd highly recommend getting it done professionally as part of a CLA (clean lubricate adjust) service. Last time I had it done in the UK it cost about £80 and when I had it done to my OM-2SP in the USA last year it cost just under $100.

I see many OM-2S, 3 and 4 with jammed wind mechanisms. This is caused by "overwinding", Gears are now out of sync, shutter is trying to unwind, but gear position is not allowing it. Wind mech must be disassembled, degreased, rebuilt. OM is my specialty since 1977. www.zuiko.com. John
