You unplug it fro 10 minutes to drain down the circuit, but if it doesn't heat the chances are that the Magnetron is defective, in that case a new oven is a good choice.

The correct way to discharge the cap is to put a high value resistor across it for a few seconds. These capacitors can, in some ovens, retain a charge of 2000 volts or more for several months. Using a screw driver to short the terminals can possibly damage the capacitor due to the high instantaneous current surge that can result.

The high voltage rectifier or magnetron are most often the cause of no heat.

SOURCE: Hi I have a LG MG 583MC microwave,

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are operating here.

If it's quieter than usual, it's probably a control issue, such as a bad door switch or mount, or a problem on the control circuit board.

If it's louder than usual or sounds the same, it's probably a fault in the high voltage section, such as the magnetron, transformer or diode.

Unless it is a convection type or is otherwise special, the average over the counter microwave is generally not economical to repair when high voltage parts or servicer help is needed.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

The lights, fan clock etc. all are working, but it won't heat.

The door interlock switch is probably failed or out of adjustment. Beyond that the magnetron may have failed. Does the turntable etc all and light run while TRYING to heat? If so the magnetron or possibly the relay that sends power to the transformer or the rectifier may have failed. Note that about 5000 volts is sent to the magnetron so use great caution when working on this.

MICROWAVE NOT HEATING

Most likely you have a magnetron problem. Easy to replace (DYI) but make sure the high voltage capacitor is fully discharged first against the case.

Whirlpool MH1140XM: has power, but no heat, turntable not spin.

Test the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron.

The diode and capacitors can br tested. The capacitor must be allowed discharge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, even if power is off. Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their two contacts.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts.

Microwave not heating...power going to it...turntable runs, lites on...no heating

If you have the experience with discharging a capacitor and you have a (VOM) Volt Olm Meter. Unplug microwave, discharge capicitor, and check the resistance of the two thermal cut-off discs by removing the lead and set VOM to RX1. If you don't get a reading of zero, replace the discs. If you found any of these suggestions helpful, please rate my solution. D. Lange

Non rotating lg turntable fixit try failure

Looks this model's turntable support has a coupler shaft built-in which is supposed to go down into the turntable motor hole and make contact with the turntable shaft. Is that right in your case?

So I would wonder if the turntable support has gotten bent due to heat. That's common on some models.

When you take it out and look at it from the side, are the legs straight and perpendicular to the shaft or are they bent down?

On some models, you can heat them over a stove flame, then put them on a flat surface with a weight to old them in position while they cool.

Otherwise, you'll need a new turntable support. LG / Goldstar calls this a "rotating ring".
