I want to delete all of the pictures from my GE Z1300 camera as I've saved them elsewhere! I can do one at a time but there are hundreds. And no, I no longer have the manual. Thanks in advance.

There could be a few different problems, one, the pins that are inside that connect to the card often get bent or damaged. Two, the reader itself could be damaged inside.

Do yourself a favor and purchase a USB Memory card reader at Radio Shack or other electronic store for about $10. You simply put your card in there and it becomes another drive on your PC. Then you can drag and drop your photos in Windows Explorer. This will also save you from having to run your camera batteries every time you want to dump pictures to your PC. This is how I've always done it and I can do it all in less than a minute. I just keep the USB card reader right in my camera bag. You should also be able to see your camera in Windows Explorer, as well and do the same thing; I just like the card reader better.

How cani unlock my camera? i cant delete my pictures?

Erasing a memory card: when erasing a memory card, individual photos are deleted from their directories on the card. You can erase one or more user selected images at a time, or erase all images at one time. However, any images that you've selected to be "protected" through another menu option will not be removed during the erasure process.

Formatting a memory card: format a memory card sample menuFormatting, on the other hand, deletes all images from a memory card, even the ones that may have been protected. It recreates the file system including new directories and folders where images are saved on the card.

Unlike erasing, formatting improves the overall performance of a card.

Low level formatting: some digital cameras offer a low level format in addition to the standard format option. With a low level format, all data on the card is deleted. New directories and folders are also recreated during this process.

A low-level format of a high speed memory card helps ensure smooth continuous shooting at a constant interval. For optimal video performance, it's also recommended that a low level format be done sometime prior to recording.

In camera, not computer: though opinions vary, many recommend formatting a memory card in a digital camera, not via a computer. If you plan to use a memory card that was previously used in another camera, format the card in the new camera before taking any shots.

Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Take no more pics until you've recovered your photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that may help you recover your photos. This article reviews and outlines several of the better ones:

Why does my GE C1033 Digital Camera always say the battery is exhausted even though the batteries are new. And I just got it and have not left it on or used it too long.

Bet you're using alkaline batteries? You really should be using rechargeable batteries instead of alkalines, or worse yet, those so-called "super heavy duty" batteries. Modern rechargeables have over 5 times the power of alkaline batteries, and last for hundreds of shots. Today's digital cameras really eat power. Disposable batteries are good only for emergencies, and they usually only last for a few pictures as you've discovered.

My flip camera says its empty but when I try to record it says its full??

Your memory card may think it's full if you've been deleting pics from it when it's in your PC and not in the camera.

If you've offloaded all the pics you want to from your memory card, put it back in your camera and "reformat" the card - there should be instructions how to do this in your camera manual. (If you've misplaced your manual you can likely find an online version on the website of your camera manufacturer). Hopefully this will fix your problem.

From now on, (even if you have to buy a new memory card), don't do any editing or deleting of pics directly on the memory media while it is in your PC (or Mac). Offload your pics to a file of their own on the PC (you can edit pics from that file). Then put the memory card back into the camera, verify that you did indeed successfully offload the pics to the PC (with the media card out of the PC), then delete the pics from the card while it's in the camera.

Reformat the memory card periodically (in the camera) after you've offloaded your pics (reformatting will erase all pics so you've gotta be sure you captured them elsewhere) to maintain the 'health' & full functionality of your memory card.

thanks.

How can I delete all pictures on my coolpix L4 at the same time?

Answer specifc to this camera as follows: With camera on, push the > button to view saved pictures, when first picture appears in the frame, push "menu" and you will see a prompt to "delete", press "OK" and follow prompts to delete "ALL" pictures. The manual for this camera does NOT provide this info, it only deals with ability to delete one at a time.

Hi Nicole, If you haven?t messed with or tried to save new pictures on the camera since you deleted the Xmas ones then there may be hope. If you take the card to a camera shop that deals with digital cameras they can probably help you. There is a good case for doing the job yourself (and saving money); however, if the pictures are worth a lot to you it may be better to pay an expert to deal with it assuming you can find someone who knows what they are doing. If you?re feeling adventuresome here is one software program that allows you to do a test before buying. http://www.diskinternals.com/products/deleted-data-recovery/ It will show you what it can recover but if you want to get the images you have to pay $40 to activate the software. I?ve used this before and it worked for me but be aware there are lots of other programs, some free. Here are a couple of free ones that I have never personally used but are rated fairly well: http://www.z-a-recovery.com/digital-image-recovery.htm http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/uk/welcome.htm Let us know how it goes and don?t forget to rate the posting.
