SOURCE: how do I covert 17 grams Miralax (generic) powder to tablespoons, please.

Sounds like you answered your own question. I one cap will hold 17 grams then just use one cap full. If you take a little extra it should not be a problem. I prepped for a colonoscopy using Miralax and the doctor had me take a whole bottle of Miralax in Gatoraid in two doses one hour apart and it did not cause any problems (except I spent a lot of time in the bathroom!). As a guess I would say two or three tablespoons would be about 17 grams.

SOURCE: The receipe calls for 3 grams of protein powder...how do I measure that??

Weigh it is only way to be sure. A level tea spoon holds 5 grams by volume , divide into five heaps add 3 heaps to make one heap, you have 3 grams by volume . Rough but close.

Because you don't know the density of the powder and no table spoon has the same volume you can't know how many grams go in a table spoon.

Unless you use a very precise scale to measure one table spoon, you never will know.

Multiply the grams amount by 0.035274. That will give you ounces.

check the links, but best by far is an electronic kitchen scale as grams is a measure of mass (weight) and a cup is a measure of volume.

A volume of white sugar varies in density due to its granularity. One cup = 48 teaspoons of granular sugar weighs roughly 200g, the same volume of powdered sugar weighs 120g only.

Assuming granular sugar, 1g of sugar is equivalent to 48 / 200 = 0.24 teaspoons. If you want to find out how many teaspoons are equivalent to a given mass of sugar in grams, multiply the weight by 0.24. For powdered sugar, 48 / 120 = 0.4 is the proper conversion factor.

For example: 20g of granular sugar is equivalent to 20 x 0.24 = 4.8 teaspoons. 20g of powdered sugar is equivalent to 20 x 0.4 = 8 teaspoons.

If you have to ask this you need the pharmacist's help. Go to the counter and show him or her your written instructions from your provider. Most of these bottles come in a 8.3 oz size, which is 238 Gms. They also have a lid with dose markings inside, for a 17 or 34-Gram dose. If you've been told to take 328 grams at once, then you should have been prescribed a prep kit which has, yes, the same clean-out powder, but pre-measured, with a mixing container, safety instructions, flavor packets, minerals to protect you from dehydration, etc. Anyone who prescribed this instead of the standard kit was showing off their knowledge that the powder is the same, rather than thinking of your safety. The prep kit is safer for most people, and may not be more expensive, either, especially if you buy the brand name MiraLax!

A *cup* is a measure of volume, but a *gram* is a measure of mass.

Depending on the density of the material you are going to have in the cup, the weight in grams of the material will vary. For example, if you fill the cup with lead, the cup will weigh much more than if you fill with feathers.

This question would be similar to asking how much does a 6 foot person weigh. It depends on the person of course. A cup of water will weigh more than a cup of flour.

Examples:

Granulated sugar: 1 cup = 200 grams

Brown sugar: 1 cup, packed = 220 grams

Sifted white flour: 1 cup = 125 grams

White rice, uncooked: 1 cup = 185 grams
