14 gauge will be enough provided your breaker is a 15 amp. If 20 amp I recommend 12 gauge wire.

1500 watts is 1.5 kilowatts. Run it for 1 hour and you have 1.5 kilowatt hours. My electricity costs .08 per kilowatt hour so, when I run my 1500 watt space heater, it costs me a whopping .12 per hour to operate. I can afford 12 cents per hour, compared to oil at $3.50 per gallon and a burner that burns up to 3 gallons per hour.

You want to switch from propane to heat-pump type.

There are likely 3 areas of difference. Read each manual and generally look for 1) unit size and capability to match spa 2) pipe connections and sizes 3) Electrical requirement

From electrical standpoint, You need GFCI-protected line from circuit breaker box, or GFCI (arc-fault) breaker. This will prevent electrocution risk around spa.

3500 watts divided by 240 volts = 14.5 amps so install double-pole 20 amp breaker and use 12 gauge wire.

A number 12 copper supply cable at the voltage is overkill for this load.

Ohm's Law states: Watts = Volts x Amps. To find Amps: Amps = Watts / Volts. This is 1500W / 240V = 6.25 Amps. Since the max continuous load for a 14 copper is 12 Amps, this size wire is the correct size.

Check to make sure the heater is in fact a 240 volt type, as if it is a 120 volt type, you are likely instantly burning out the heating element. If it is indeed a 120 volt heater, you will need to connect to a single pole 15 amp breaker and place the other wire that was on the breaker to neutral to provide the correct voltage. The load will still be 1500W, but at half the voltage, the current will double to 12.5 amps, and may cause the circuit breaker to trip after a while.

I think you mean 120 volts.

Use a heavy guage extension cord and plug it into a GFCI if you have one outside your house. If no GFCI installed on house, buy a portable one at a hardware store.

The amp draw is on the nameplate on the saw. If it reads 10 amps, for example, you'll need a 16 guage extension cord. If it pulls more than 10 amps, you should use a 14 guage extension cord.

If an electric motor is smoking, most likely it is in the process of burning out the windings in the motor. This usually starts from using an extension cord that has too small a wire or a cord that is too long. when you do thid you are forcing the motor to pull more amps than it should to make up for the voltage loss in the cord.

The fuel for the electric motor is a term called watts. Watts equals volts times amps. If the voltage drops then more amps are needed to feed the motor enough watts. This caused the motor to over heat and this melts or breaks down the insulation on the windings. When this happens the motor starts to short out and once this happens then you can not save the motor.

Electric lawn equipment should be used with #14 or #12 (never use #16 or #18 gauge ) guage extension cords and should not be used with cords longer than 50 feet. Also you should not run the equipment more than 10 minutes with out a 30 minute rest.

with one switch on its 700 watts, second switch is 800 watts, thats 1500 total. even though a 14-2 wire could support this ...I would recommend a 12-2 wire with a 20 amp breaker

Induction coil heaters draw very high amperage (12-14 amps) when turned on. If your outlet is worn or old the heater plug prongs will not have a good connection and the current will jump or arc from the outlet to the heater plug prongs. if the heater is 120 volt or 240 volt its really pretty easy. at either end is a cover. remove the cover and you'll see a wirenut or maybe just two wires. one side has an integral thermostat. connect your supply to the two wires on the thermostat. connect the other end in your breaker box with the appropriate sized circuit breaker. wire size feeding it will depend on its current draw. how many watts is the heater? 1500 watts will draw 6.25 amps at 240 volts so you can use 14 ga wire. 2000 watts will draw 8.3 at 240 volts - so 14 ga is still ok. 2500 watts at 240 draws 10.41 amps. 3000 watts draws 12.5 amps at this stage I'd use 12 gauge on a 20 amp breaker.
