SOURCE: DTV Conversion Question
Yes you can connect a DTV converter box in your van.
If the TV is DC powered you will need to buy a DC to AC inverter, like these http://www.dcacpowerinverters.com/12_volt_power_inverters.html because there are currently no dc dtv converters available.
If the tv is ac powered you will only need to connect the converter to the inverter the tv is connected to.
If you need more help or installation instructions let me know.

Yes you will need on because you are receiving a analog signal and will not decode the digital signal without one.Hoe this answers you question.

If the audiovox does not have digital capability you will need a converter. The converter "converts" the digital signal back to the old signal so that your tv will recognize and play it. Thanks for using fixya.
