Dtergent dispencer does not open

Dispenser Lever

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser lever might need to be replaced.

Detergent Dispenser Cover

If the detergent dispenser cover is broken and the detergent dispenser doesn't work, the dispenser assembly should be replaced.

Wax Motor Actuator

If the dispenser will not release the detergent the actuator connected between the wax motor and the dispenser might be broken. Check the wax motor actuator and replace it if necessary.

Detergent Container

If the dishwasher dispenser doesn't work the detergent container may need to be replaced.

Dispenser Lid

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser lid may have to be replaced.

Detergent Dispenser

If the dishwasher dispenser doesn't work the problem is often related to the release mechanism. If the problem is with the dispenser itself, it may be easier to replace the entire dispenser.

Dispenser Door Spring

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open during the wash cycle the dispenser door spring may have to be replaced.

Dispenser Latch

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser door latch may have to be replaced.

Dispenser Door Pin

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser door pin may have to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Dispenser Actuator

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser actuator may have to be replaced.

Dispenser

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the entire dispenser assembly may have to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Wax Motor

There is an electrically powered device called a wax motor which opens the detergent dispenser. If the dispenser is broken and will not open to release the detergent, the wax motor might need to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Bi-Metal

If the dishwasher dispenser doesn't work the bi-metal actuator might be burned out or defective. The bi-metal is a simple metal loop which acts as a latch for the dispenser door. As electricity is applied to the metal loop, the loop deforms and bends away from the latch, releasing it. If the bi-metal is burned out it won't deform or release the detergent door.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Dispenser Slide

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser slide may need to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Dispenser Repair Kit

If the dispenser is broken this dispenser kit may need to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Main Control Board

The main control board provides power to nearly every component of the dishwasher including the detergent dispenser. If the dispenser will not actuate the main control board might be defective. You should first check for more common parts. Many times control boards are replaced unnecessarily because the problem was not diagnosed properly.

How to remove battery from an old firex fx1218 smoke detector

I agree that removing the battery can be a pain.
As you look up at the FX1218, turn the smoke detector a few degrees counterclockwise.

The detector should fall from the ceiling and hang by a few wires.

Those wires are connected to a plastic connector. It's the plastic connector that has to be squeezed using pliers. I prefer slip-joint pliers (see picture).

remove-battery-from-old-firex-fx1218-pakrl1cso4l3msuzip5hmw52-1-0.png On the plastic connector you will see two plastic "arms". Squeeze the arms and the plastic connector and cover plate to which it is attached will come out of the detector exposing the battery. Be prepared for the detector to screech.

Replace the battery.

Reattach the connector/plate. It is keyed so it only goes in one way. Be careful no to bend the interior male pins into the female plastic connector.

Drain in the close position the drain handle is not working

Remove the 2 screws on the drain cover in the bath tub to gain access. Drain plug should be connected to trip lever on drain cover probably using a cotter pin with ends bent to keep it on. Do not yet remove the cotter pin.

To know for sure if it is the trip lever broken, you can hold the trip lever down and tub will drain. If you let go, trip lever on cover returns to upright position and stops draining. You can also feel the spring tension stay on it when you press the trip lever down. Most likely, the drain trip lever (spring action) which is a part of the cover itself is broken.

First have ice pick, thin screwdriver, (even a large paper clip (or 2 for strength) bent straight may do) or anything small enough to go through same hole in drain assembly as cotter pin, while long enough to go across hole in bathtub to hold drain assembly up till you install new drain cover attaching it to assembly with same or new cotter pin.
Now unbend the cotter pin (sort of looks like a heavy duty metal bobby pin) ends using pliers. Using pliers pull cotter pin out while holding drain assembly so it will not fall back into tub wall.
Next secure assembly using the above ice pick or large paper clip while you take trip lever (which is the cover)
to hardware store, etc. to pick up generic tub trip lever.

CHANCES ARE THE ABOVE SOLVED PROBLEM, BUT IN CASE IT WAS NOT THE TRIP LEVER WHEN YOU TESTED USING THE METHOD ABOVE TO DIAGNOSE THEN BELOW IS HOW TO REMOVE ENTIRE TUB DRAIN ASSEMBLY

There is a metal stem with a threaded rod coming up in it with a nut on it, and on the end of this is a round metal weight looking much like a very small upside down can. you will not be able to see all this unless it is neccesary to remove entire drain assembly which you can then take it to a Home Depot or Lowes type store to replace. Most can be replaced with a generic tub drain.
Now to get the assembly out once you've removed the 2 screws gently work metal stem assembly up and out at a slight angle. You may have to move nut on assembly to shorten the length in order to get it to clear the tub. IMPORTANT! If so, 1st mark the position of the nut on the threaded rod so you can put it back in same position when reinstalled before lowering assembly all the way back into tub wall.

Broken orange battery tab

Contact Pentax and see if they will send you the part, for the tab + S/H it should cost you approximately $25, although I have recently heard they will not provide these items to customers anymore. If they're no longer providing replacements, your device will need to be sent to them for repair (approximately $70 incl labour).
Or... Get a piece of tape and place it over the battery and close the casing, other "ghetto rig solutions" include folding a piece of paper, placing it atop the battery (between the battery and the closing cover) and closing the flap, the paper will hold the battery against the pins and allow function.

Coffee maker

The beeping is typically caused by the grinder safety interlock. There is a small pin on the clear grinder cover that needs to be in place so that it is depressed into the safety switch when the cover is closed. The interlock switch prevents the grinder from working when the cover is open. Check to be sure that the pin in the grinder cover is not broken.

I have a Lexmark 3480. Although the lid is closed it tells me that it is open. Can you help me on this please. Many thanks Roberta

You have probably broken off a small pin on the back of the cover that you open when you are to change the ink cartridge. Had the same problem my selv. This pin touches, when cover closed a small button that gives the printer a signal that the cover is closed. Solved this with putting something on that button, and taped it so it wouldnt go away.
(please excuse my not to good english)

The Error says "Cover Open Front" but it is not open

Most printers have a plastic pin on all of the covers that pushes a switch when it is closed. This then sends a signal to the printer telling it "I'm closed".

Probably the pin is broken off (quite by accident I'm sure). A solution is to push a piece of paper in the hole where the pin is, closing the switch, to fool the printer into thinking that the cover is closed. You can try this by pushing a pen point into the hole to see if the message goes out. (Don't forget to remove the paper when you open the cover. The switch is there to keep things out of the mechanism while it is running. May not hurt you but will damage the printer mechanics irreparably.)

Anything else is an error with the printer software and processor and can't be fixed easily.
